A vehicle lighting unit can reduce the load applied to the actuator for driving a reflecting member as well as can improve the durability of the actuator. The vehicle lighting unit can include a light source, a reflecting member configured to reflect light from the light source toward an illumination area, an actuator including inner piezoelectric actuators and outer piezoelectric actuators configured to cause the reflecting member to swing (turn) around X and Y axes simultaneously, to thereby scan the illumination area with the reflected light from the reflecting member horizontally and vertically, and a controller configured to control the inner piezoelectric actuators and the outer piezoelectric actuators such that a scanning frequency in the vertical direction of the reflected light is larger than a scanning frequency in the horizontal direction of the reflected light.

Vehicle lighting unit

A lamp assembly is provided, that utilizes a light source including an LED element without cutting part of light therefrom and capable of forming a luminance distribution where the light with a maximum peak portion can be arranged substantially at (i.e., at or near) the cutoff line, thereby improving light utilization efficiency. The lamp assembly with an illumination direction can include a light source including an LED element with an emission surface, and a projection optical system for projecting an image of the light source in the illumination direction so that a desired light distribution pattern can be formed on a virtual vertical screen. The light source can have a rectangular shape having long sides and short sides, and can be configured to provide a luminance distribution on the emission surface such that a luminance peak portion is provided at or near one of the long sides.

A valve body for pumps has a compressed air-filled chamber in the center thereof and a compressed air supply port through which compressed air is supplied into the compressed air-filled chamber. The outer surface of the valve body is provided with an annular groove-shaped air supply chamber that communicates between the compressed air-filled chamber and a pump-side air chamber. Compressed air supplied into the compressed air-filled chamber through the compressed air supply port is supplied into the pump-side air chamber through the air supply chamber.

An LED lighting apparatus can be configured to supply a number of LEDs connected in series with a requisite voltage and power even if an amount of forward voltage of the LEDs connected in series is larger than a supply voltage of a battery. The LED lighting apparatus can include a boosting circuit and an inverted boosting circuit. LEDs can be connected between outputs of the boosting circuit and the inverted boosting circuit. The LED lighting apparatus can also include a current detection circuit configured to detect an LED current, and can include a dual PWM control IC configured to control the boosting circuit and the inverted boosting circuit in accordance with the LED current detected by the current detection circuit so as to keep the LED current substantially constant. The LED lighting apparatus can include a shutdown circuit to stop supplying a power supply when a load that includes the LEDs is in a circuit that is either opened or shorted.

A reciprocating fluid transfer pump in which a pilot valve assembly block can be mounted to a main body block in a simple, easy and reliable manner. In the reciprocating fluid transfer pump, a fluid, which has been suctioned into a fluid delivering chamber (), is discharged therefrom by causing an expanding and contracting action of a barrier membrane () which is attached to either end of a center rod (). The center rod is capable of reciprocating with respect to the main body block (). A peripheral portion of the barrier membrane () is clamped fixedly to the main body block () via a main ring (), and a pilot valve assembly block () having an integrated pilot valve () for detecting the reciprocating motion of the center rod () is pressed against and thus fixedly secured to the main ring () via a sub ring ().

The present invention relates to a spherical joint for transmitting rotating and rocking motions between an inner member and an outer member in sliding contact with each other, and provides a spherical joint which is excellent in the mechanical strength and capable of achieving smooth rocking or rotating motions, and a process for manufacturing the spherical joint. In order to achieve this object, according to the present invention, there is provided a spherical joint comprising: an internal member having a convex-spherical surface; an outer member cast by using the inner member as a core and so connected to the inner member as to rock and rotate relative to the inner member; and a bushing sandwiched between the inner member and the outer member and having a concave-spherical surface for sliding contact with the convex-spherical surface of the inner member. When the outer member is to be cast, the bushing made of a thin metal is partially fused to and rigidly unified with the cast outer member.

Spherical joint with an elastic cap

A spool type valve for minimizing degradation in sealing ability is provided. The spool type valve comprises a spool 30 having land portions 36A-36E. The spool is inserted into a sleeve 20 for slidable movement along the axis thereof so as to define a plurality of fluid passages 23, 24 in the sleeve. The spool controllably opens and closes ports 21A-21E of the sleeve. Each land portion includes a slider member 38 and an O-ring 37. The slider member is divided into plural elements and is in slidable engagement with the inner wall 22 of the sleeve. The O-ring is adapted to resiliently urge the slider member against the inner wall of the sleeve. The slider member includes an annular groove 39B into which the O-ring 37 is fitted.

Spool type valve

A stable optical fiber dispersion-compensating device reduces electrical power consumption and compensates for wave deterioration due to dispersion of high speed signals having a frequency of several Gb/s or above. The devices includes a non-linear optical medium, a pump laser for generating pump light, means for injecting input signal light and the pump light into the non-linear optical medium, means for taking out output signal light which is frequency converted and is generated from the non-linear optical medium by non-degenerate four-wave mixing. The non-linear optical medium is a Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser, and the frequencies of the pump light and input signal light respectively substantially coincide with one of different resonant modes of the Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser.
