Precise temperature controlling unit and method thereof

When light beams of two different wavelengths applied from an excitation light source are made incident on a nonlinear optical crystal having a unique nonlinear coefficient, the nonlinear optical crystal generates THz waves resulting from difference frequency generation according to the nonlinear coefficient that the crystal itself has and SHG waves in which the light beams of two different wavelengths have been wavelength converted in accordance with the nonlinear coefficient. The generated THz waves pass through or are reflected from a sample and are detected by a THz detector. The SHG waves are detected by a SHG detector. A control unit acquires THz measurement values T from the THz detector, acquires SHG measurement values S from the SHG detector, and uses baseline THz measurement values TB and baseline SHG measurement values SB acquired without the sample to perform baseline correction using (T/S)/(TB/SB).

The base plate is transmissive to terahertz waves, and a sample is disposed at the base plate. In the conductive periodic structure, plural transmission portions that transmit terahertz waves are arrayed with a predetermined period. The conductive periodic structure is disposed apart from a position at which the sample is disposed. The waveguide includes a total reflection surface provided at a boundary face with the conductive periodic structure. The total reflection surface totally reflects incident terahertz waves, and the waveguide guides incident terahertz waves toward the total reflection surface. The magnitudes of one or more of a distance between the position at which the sample is disposed and the conductive periodic structure, a property of the base plate, and the predetermined period are set such that a dip showing a characteristic absorption is formed in a predetermined frequency region of a spectrum of terahertz waves.

Terahertz wave measurement device and method

This invention relates to a technique for adjusting the temperature of a liquid held on an analyzing instrument () to a target value. The invention provides a temperature control method wherein thermal energy is supplied to liquid () by passing a magnetic flux across an analyzing instrument () for raising the temperature of the liquid. This invention relates to technology for analyzing a specific component in a sample liquid, and provides an analyzing tool and an analyzing apparatus. Analyzing tool (Y) includes a liquid inlet () at a central portion of the tool and a plurality of channels () which communicate with liquid inlet () and move the sample liquid introduced through liquid inlet () by capillary action from the central portion towards a peripheral portion of the tool. Each channel () extends linearly for example from the central portion towards the peripheral portion, and the plurality of channels () are arranged radially.

In order to provide a high-performance electrophoresis chip and an electrophoresis unit having the same that can restrain the diffusion of sample at an intersection between the electrophoresis groove and the sample introduction groove and prevent decrease in contrast and decrease in resolution, an electrophoresis chip is provided with a sample introduction groove, an electrophoresis groove, and a through hole. The sample introduction groove, the electrophoresis groove, and the through hole are formed on different substrates. In the electrophoresis chip, by combining the substrates, the sample introduction groove and the electrophoresis groove are located in different planes.

The present invention relates to a technique for moving a mobile component such as a sample and a reagent, in an analyzing article. A method of analyzing a sample according to the present invention includes a first movement step of moving a mobile component from a fluid entrance port () to a first goal () in a passage (), and a second movement step of moving the mobile component from the first goal () to a second goal () in the passage (), in an analyzing article (Y). The analyzing article (Y) further includes a branch passage which branches from the first goal (), and a first opening for releasing gas from within the branch passage. The first movement step is carried out by establishing communication between inside and outside of the branch passage via the first opening. The second movement step is carried out by providing a second opening downstream from the second goal () with respect to a flow direction of the mobile component, thereby establishing communication between inside and outside of the passage.

The analyzing tool (Y) is structured such that a liquid sample is filtrated by being advanced in the thickness direction of the separation film (). The flow passage () is structured such that the sample liquid is moved by, for example, a capillary phenomenon.
