A pressure welding apparatus includes a pressing die assembly which has a plurality of stuffers that pressure-weld electric wires to the pressure-welding parts of contacts , and a comb . The pressing die assembly has a plurality of pins which are located adjacent to the respective stuffers and which are constantly driven downward by springs so that the pins protrude beyond the lower ends of the stuffers . The widths of the respective pins are set so that these widths are substantially equal to the widths of the cavities of the housing in which the contacts 30 are accommodated. As a result, the pins advance into the housing cavities located adjacent to the contact on which pressure-welding is to be performed, and support the housing partition walls from the sides during the pressure welding process.

Electrical connector

The plug housing (40) is placed inside the cover housing (10), and they are joined together by means of the lever (2) . Holes (8) of the lever (2) are placed over mounting projections (18), and the lugs (5) of the lever (2) are engaged with the lug engaging members (50) of the plug housing (40) through the opening (16). The lugs (86) of the cap housing (80) are latched in the slots (22) of the cover housing (10), thus joining these housings together. By operating the lever (2), the plug housing (40) is moved inside the cap housing (80) making electric connection with the contacts of the cap housing (80).

A connector (C1) includes a housing (10) and a pair of terminals (T1) adapted to interconnect to a pair of wires (W1, W2) to electrically connect with terminals (33, 35) of a connector (R1); wherein the connector has a key (20) that is movably latchable in the housing in one of two positions in accordance with the orientation of the wires as terminated to terminals (T1) to form an appropriate connector orientation relative to a keyway and the mating connector and assure proper mating of connectors and wires, despite random orientation of wires as terminated.

An electrical connector (10) for electrical connection to a complementary electrical connector (20) comprises a housing (10a) having electrical contacts (13) secured in passageways (11) by housing lances (14); a movable contact guide member (40) is positioned in the housing (10a) and includes a guide plate (41) having holes (43) through which ends of contact sections (132) of contacts (13) extend when the contact guide member is an outer position so that holes (43) serve to align and guide the contact sections (132) for electrical engagement with complementary contact sections (231) of electrical contacts (23) secured in housing (20a) when contact guide member (40) moves to an inner position during the engagement between connectors (10, 20); and the movable contact guide member has an inner section (42) that extends along and maintains the housing lances (14) in latching engagement with the contacts (13).

A receptacle terminal has a receptacle portion including leaf spring means at a forward end of the receptacle portion that are inclined toward an upper wall and auxiliary spring means spaced rearwardly from the forward leaf spring means. Upon insertion of a tab portion of a male terminal into the receptacle portion the leaf spring means can engage the auxiliary leaf spring means or the bottom wall and the auxiliary leaf spring means can engage the bottom wall thereby preventing the leaf springs from deformation. Accordingly, a permanent set of the leaf springs cannot occur enabling the spring forces to remain constant which ensures optimal contact pressure on the tab portion realizing an effective electrical connection.
