Some embodiments in the present disclosure generally relate to catalytic silica-polyvinyl alcohol composites, silica structures therefrom, and/or microreactors therefrom. Some embodiments in the present disclosure generally relate to porous substrates that can have at least one pore with a catalyst associated with the inside of the pore.

Porous catalytic substrate

Some embodiments in the present disclosure generally relate to fluorescent structures such as fluorescent glass, fluorescent substrates, and/or light emitting devices, which can include a gradient of fluorescent molecules across the structure, substrate, and/or light emitting device. In some embodiments, the fluorescent glass, fluorescent substrates, and/or light emitting devices can be porous and include at least one fluorescent molecule within the one or more pore. In some embodiments, this can allow for the creation of a gradient fluorescent material throughout the material.

Graded fluorescent material

An optical element comprising a vacuum-sintered body comprising a plurality of particles each having a two-layer structure comprising a ceramic particle and a coating layer, wherein the ceramic particle comprises LnAlO, where Ln represents a rare-earth element, x represents 1&#x2266;x&#x2266;10, and y represents 1&#x2266;y&#x2266;5, and has an average particle diameter of 1 &#x3bc;m or more and 10 &#x3bc;m or less, and wherein the coating layer comprises a ceramic having a lower sintering temperature than a sintering temperature of the ceramic particle.

Optical material and optical element

An optical element is formed by vacuum-sintering a molded body of ceramic particles having an average particle diameter of 1 &#x3bc;m or more and 10 &#x3bc;m or less and including LnAlO(Ln represents a rare-earth element, 1&#x2266;x&#x2266;10, and 1&#x2266;y&#x2266;5). Ln preferably includes at least one kind selected from La, Gd, Yb, and Lu. The optical element preferably has a refractive index of 1.85 or more and 2.06 or less, and an Abbe number of 48 or more and 65 or less. The obtained optical element has optical properties of high refractive index and low dispersibility.

An electroactive material and a method of manufacturing the same is provided, in which the primary component of the electroactive material is a metal boron oxide complex, and the electroactive material exhibits excellent charge/discharge characteristics. The electroactive material of the present invention is primarily composed of an amorphous metal complex represented by the general formula MOO. M is one or two or more metal elements selected from the transition metal elements, e.g., Fe or V. In addition, x is 0&#x3c;x&#x3c;1, e.g., &#xbd;. This type of electroactive material can be manufactured by amorphizing the metal complex represented by the general formula MOOby means of a mechanical milling method. In addition, the electroactive material can be manufactured by rapidly cooling and solidifying a mixture containing an oxide in which M is a constituent metal element and a boron oxide from the melted state.
