An image display device includes: a display panel body; first and second drive boards spaced apart from each other along one side of the display panel body; a first flexible board which electrically connects the display panel body and the first drive board and a second flexible board which electrically connects the display panel body and the second drive board; a light control panel body switchable between a transmissive state and a non-transmissive state; and a first electrode portion including a first electrode body disposed in an outer peripheral portion of the light control panel body along one side of the display panel body, and a first electrode tab which extends from the first electrode body crossing the one side of the display panel body while avoiding an overlap with the first and second drive boards in a front view of the display panel body.

Image display device

An image display device includes: a light guide plate which includes an front face from which light from a light source exits; a heat sink that holds the light source portion and the light guide plate; a base plate which accommodates the light source portion, the light guide plate, and the heat sink; and a frame which is fixed to a wall portion of the base plate and holds the light guide plate from front of the light guide plate. The frame includes: a main body disposed inwardly of and along the wall portion; and a holder extending from the main body. The holder holds an end portion of the light guide plate from the front of the light guide plate, and the end portion is on a side of the end face from which light emitted from the light source portion enters.

Image display apparatus includes liquid crystal cell, flat plate-shaped back frame, light guide plate, and a pair of support mechanisms. The pair of support mechanisms are fixed to back frame in positions at which light guide plate is clamped at both sides that intersect a first axis (X-axis). The pair of support mechanisms each includes movable component that supports light guide plate, body component that movably retains movable component, and elastic member that pushes movable component toward opposite support mechanism. Protrusion is disposed on movable component, and engagement section with which protrusion engages is disposed on light guide plate. Engagement section includes tab that is formed outwardly on an end surface of light guide plate, and notch disposed on tab and engages with protrusion.

Image display apparatus

In a backlight unit, a plurality of linear light sources arranged in a first direction are accommodated in a case so that they are covered by the case from a side opposite to an illuminated object. In the case, a reflective sheet is disposed on the bottom surface of the case, and a pair of supporting members are disposed to be spaced from each other in the extending direction of the linear light sources. The supporting members support the diffuser plate and the illuminated object. The diffuser plate has, on the light exit surface thereof, a first light-controlling portion having a pattern of stripes parallel to the linear light sources, and a pair of second light-controlling portions extending in the arrangement direction at positions corresponding to the supporting members.

A projection display device includes a condensing unit and a shading unit. The condensing unit condenses light emitted from a light source to form a condensed spot on a color wheel. The shading unit, when a size of the condensed spot on the color wheel has increased due to an increase in light emission of the light source, shades a portion of the light passing through the color wheel corresponding to the increased size.

Sequential color display device including light shading means

A field sequential color display device includes a color wheel assembly. The color wheel assembly has a color wheel which is divided into a plurality of color regions and a motor for rotating the color wheel. The motor contains a sensor for detecting rotation of the motor and the sensor outputs at least one pulse per one revolution of the motor. The color wheel assembly also has a spatial light modulator for displaying image data that is driving in synchronization with the pulse output by the sensor.

There is disclosed a liquid-crystal projection apparatus having a lamp device which has such a sealed or closed construction that a sound, produced upon bursting of a light-emitting tube, is suppressed and that the scattering of glass pieces is prevented. In this liquid-crystal projection apparatus, a lamp is sealed by a support member, supporting a concave mirror having two notches and an outer casing and a flat glass panel and an air passage is formed in the support member. The lamp is releasably attached to a lamp fixing member and two open portions are formed in this lamp fixing member and a cooling fan is fixedly connected to one of the two open portions.
