An alloy substrate formed on an alloy of Ni and Mo is formed by electroforming. The alloy substrate has graded composition in which alloy composition varies in a thickness direction thereof. A lower surface side is mainly composed of Ni, and a upper surface side is mainly composed of Mo. An upper surface of the alloy substrate is formed with a large number of minute and pyramidal unevenness having high light scattering property. A CIS light absorbing layer is formed on the upper surface of the alloy substrate, and an upper electrode is provided thereabove.

A sensor chip has a metal layer formed on a surface of a substrate, where a plurality of microscopic concave part is formed in a measurement region of the surface of the metal layer. When light of linear polarization is irradiated onto the measurement region, local resonance electric field generates at opposing metal layer surfaces in the concave part. The reflected light thereof is received to measure reflectance. The light of linear polarization is irradiated so that the polarizing surface becomes orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the concave part.

Surface plasmon resonance sensor and sensor chip

A method of mass-producing minute structures such as biochips, protein chips, quantum dots, and quantum chips involves arranging an antigen two-dimensionally on a board and arranging probes two-dimensionally facing the same direction so that the binding sites of the probes may bind to the antigen. An inorganic substance such as Ni is deposited on the board from the upper side of the probes by sputtering or evaporation to form a thin film layer and on the top surface of the flatly formed thin film layer, a supporting layer is formed by separating out the same inorganic substance using electrotyping. Then, by peeling the thin film layer and the supporting layer off of the board together, the mother stamper having cavities for the patterns of biomolecules is obtained.

Light from the light source introduced into the light guide plate is deflected towards the light-emitting plane by the deflection patterns so as to be emitted from the light-emitting plane. The liquid crystal panel is illuminated by the light emitted from the light-emitting plane.

A double-side LCD having a surface light source device including a light guide plate and a light source facing one end face of the light guide plate. A plurality of deflection patterns are formed in a surface facing a light outgoing plane of the light guide plate, the deflection pattern includes an inclined plane facing the light source side and a re-incident plane substantially perpendicular to the light outgoing plane. Light from the light source is reflected by the inclined plane and outputted from the light outgoing plane to the LCD. A tilt angle (&#x3b1;) of the inclined plane satisfies: 45&#xb0;&#x2212;[Sin(Sin &#x3b8;/n)]/2&#x2266;&#x3b1;&#x2266;45&#xb0;+[Sin(Sin &#x3b8;/n)]/2, wherein &#x3b8; is an angle between a direction of peak brightness of outputted light and a direction perpendicular to the light outgoing plane, n is a refractive index of the light guide plate, and &#x3b8; is within 6-15&#xb0;.

A manufacturing method of an optical device having a micro-asperity pattern that has various kinds of accurate three-dimensional shapes and is realized as thin films includes: a first step of coating a substrate with a resin thin film made of a photosensitive resin; a second step of forming a material-property-changed part at a part of the resin thin film by photolithography; a third step of controlling a temperature of the resin thin film to be a temperature that is lower than a photosensitivity extinction temperature or a hardening reaction starting temperature of the resin thin film; a fourth step of pressing a die having a micro-asperity pattern against the surface of the resin thin film to form a first micro-asperity pattern in a state in which the resin thin film has been softened or melted; and a fifth step of forming a second micro-asperity pattern at a part of the resin thin film by removing the material-property-changed part.

Surface light source device and display device

A reflector used for a display device has a plurality of unit reflecting portions. The unit reflecting portions are arranged by repeating arrangement patterns of unit regions. The unit regions have a repetition pitch that is integral times the pitch of pixels of a liquid crystal display and more than 5000 &#x3bc;m. More preferably, the repetition pitch of unit regions is integral times the pitch of pixels of a liquid crystal display and more than 10000 &#x3bc;m.
