A magnetic recording medium having a non-magnetic support and provided thereon a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic ion oxide and a binder, said ferromagnetic iron oxide containing Si and/or Al at a proportion of 0.10 to 0.25% by weight and methods of manufacturing a magnetic recording medium are disclosed.

Magnetic recording medium

A magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer on one side of a support and a backcoat on the other side containing a non-magnetic powder and a binder resin is disclosed. The non-magnetic powder comprises particles having an average size greater than 0.5 .mu.m and smaller than 2.0 .mu.m and a maximum size of not more than 5 .mu.m.

A magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer and a backing layer on opposite sides of a support is disclosed. The backing layer comprises a binder resin, a conductive carbon black and an organic powder.

Disclosed is a magnetic recording medium which comprises a support, a magnetic recording layer and optionally a back-coating layer, at least of said magnetic recording layer and said back-coating layer containing a urethane resin having a yield point. The tape performances of the magnetic recording medium according to the present invention can be markedly improved by incorporating the urethane resin having a yield point.
