A disk playback apparatus has a lower chassis unit carrying a stack of disk holders. A stage unit carries major components of the disk playback apparatus including side select plates for selectively lifting or lowering the disk holders, a drive base unit for playing back a disk, a horizontal driving gear mechanism for moving the drive base unit into a space which is formed as a result of the selective upward or downward movement of the disk holders, and a loading roller for loading and ejecting a disk. The stage unit is moved up and down in accordance with the position of a selected disk holder, by the power of a first motor, through the actions of a gear mechanism, mode pate and slide plates.

Disk playback apparatus

A guide plate having an arcuate groove (70) is fixed to the chassis. The guide groove (70) has a first bend (71) at one end, a second bend (72) at the other end, and a third bend (73) at an intermediate position therein. A slide member (8) is provided in the guide groove (70). A coil spring (61) is provided between the slide member (8) and an engagement member (11) of the floating section (1). The slide member (8) is engaged in one of the bends (72-73) in accordance with the angle of installation of a disc player to the horizon or vertical. The coil spring (61) is set so as to extend vertically at all times to support the floating section.

A drive arrangement effects movement of a disk conveying portion to a plurality of first positions and to a second position relative to a case and a rotatable turntable. The drive arrangement includes a driving gear, a slide member having a gear portion engaging the driving gear, and a movable slide plate engaged by the slide member, the slide plate having a stepwise cam portion which effects movement of the disk conveying portion between its positions. The disk conveying portion has two rotatable rollers which can engage an edge of a disk in the case when the disk conveying portion is in one of its first positions, and which rotate in order to extract the disk. As the disk conveying portion moves to its second position, the disk supported by the rollers moves to the turntable, and a clamp member is moved from a retracted position to a clamping position to hold the disk against the turntable, after which the rollers are disengaged from the disk.

A disk selecting mechanism is disclosed, in which a slide plate is moved forward and backward by driving a slide link by means of a driving gear and a disk conveying portion is moved according thereto in the up and downward direction by a stepwise cam portion disposed on the slide link so as to set it at an arbitrary position in the up and downward direction, in order to select an arbitrary disk from a magazine.

A tape loading mechanism for use in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus including a rotary head comprises: a transmission gear assembly engaging a drive gear rotated by a loading motor; loading gears located at opposite sides of the rotary head one of which is directly connected to the transmission gear assembly whereas the other is connected same via a connection gear assembly; a pair of loading arms responsive to the loading gears to move a pair of loading blocks back and forth; and a pinch roller arm connected to one of the transmission gear assembly, loading gears and connection gear assembly to move a pinch roller back and forth.

A pinch roller driving mechanism used in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus including a rotary head comprises: a pinch roller arm driving member provided on a pinch roller pull-out gear to rotate in the same direction as the gear; a pivotable pinch roller arm connected to the pinch roller arm driving member; and a pinch roller link having one end pivotably linked to one end of the pinch roller arm and the other end pivotably linked to a pinch roller block which supports a pinch roller and moves along a guide groove to bring the pinch roller into close contact with a capstan shaft.

An intermittent gear mechanism includes two intermittent gears mounted at opposite sides of a driving gear driven by a motor. One of the intermittent gears is normally held by a holding member at a position disengaged from the driving gear while the other intermittent gear engages the driving gear. When the latter intermittent gear is driven, the former intermittent gear is brought into engagement with the driving gear by a simple initial driving assembly.

A plunger operating mechanism in a tape player comprises: a head lock plate linked to a head plate normally biased to its withdrawal position by a stop mode spring; a drive means engaging the head lock plate to pull it in a direction for advance of the head plate; a lock means to lock the head lock plate brought ahead by the drive means to place the head plate at the advance position; stress plates individually linked to two attractive plungers and locked by the plungers when energized so that the engagement between the head lock plate and the drive means is maintained by a least one stress plate locked by the energized plunger; fast-forwarding and rewinding control plates linked to the two stress plates to establish the fast-forwarding or rewinding mode so that one of the control plates is set in the fast-forwarding or rewinding mode when one of the plungers is energized but neither control plate is set in a mode other than the fast-forwarding and rewinding mode in which both plungers are energized; position control means linked to the plungers to limit the advance stroke of the head plate to a fast-forwarding or rewinding position when only one of the plungers is deenergized; and a distance adjusting means provided between the head plate and the drive means to adjust the distance between the head plate and the drive means to place the head plate at the fast-forwarding and rewinding position.

Device for operating a plunger in a tape player

A loading and ejection mechanism in a tape player includes a link mechanism which transmits a motor power to a tape pack transport mechanism to drive same for loading or ejection of a tape cassette. The link mechanism includes at least one resilient connection member which normally maintains a power transmitting relationship of the link mechanism and a connection releasable arrangement which releases the power transmitting relationship of the link mechanism against the energy of the resilient connection member when an excessive load is applied to and locks the mechanism.

A loading and ejection mechanism includes an inversion gear rotated by a motor in the opposite directions, an eject plate having a rack engageable with the inversion gear, and a mechanism to bring the rack into engagement with the inversion gear, so that the eject plate is moved back and forth by rotation of the inversion gear during loading and ejection so as to move a pack guide up and down and move an eject arm back and forth.

The tape end detecting device comprises a check plate disposed for frictional, rotatable engagement with a boss of one of reel bases in a tape player, a guide hole formed in the check plate and including a set region and a reset region defined by a projection extending into the guide hole, a check pin formed on a detection plate and slidably engaging the guide hole, a cam follower linked to the detection plate, first cam formed on a rotation plate for concurrent rotation with a motor power to move the cam follower along its cam surface so as to reciprocate the check pin from the set region to the reset region of the guide hole, and second cam portion formed on the rotation plate radially outward of the first cam to move the cam follower along its cam surface while the check pin engages the projection of the guide hole. The first cam includes a set cam surface to reciprocate the check pin within the set region of the guide hole and a reset cam surface to reciprocate the check pin in the reset region beyond the projection of the guide hole. The set cam surface occupies a larger revolution angle than that of the reset cam surface of the cam so that it takes a longer time for the cam follower to pass the set cam surface than it passes the reset cam surface.
