A driving device for a stepping motor wherein detection of a position of the rotor of a stepping motor can be effected accurately without the necessity of adjustments of various elements. The device detects a current flow in a field winding of an energized phase and compares it with a simulated saturation curve to detect a back EMF induced in the winding to find a current position of the rotor of the motor. The simulated saturation curve is produced by energizing the winding with a low voltage, measuring current flows in the winding as voltage signals at three different points of time, and calculating several data indicating a saturation curve from the voltage signals. The data are stored in memory and recalled one after another to produce a corresponding voltage when the field winding is energized.

Driving device for a stepping motor

A step motor control system which can control a step motor to rotate at a variable high speed like a brushless motor. A position signal indicating a position of a rotor of a step motor relative to a specific one of field windings is detected as a voltage signal which is successively compared with a reference voltage in order to detect a specific angular position of the rotor at which selective energization and deenergization of the field windings are started for a next stepping operation of the motor. The position signal may be extracted as a voltage signal from an electric current flowing through a last energized field winding by a resistor connected thereto. From the voltage signal, a back EMF induced in the field winding due to its self inductance is subtracted to detect a voltage position signal or EMF induced in the field winding by a permanent magnet of the rotor. The back EMF is produced by an electronic simulation means including an integrating circuit having a same time constant with the field winding.

Step motor control

An electronic typewriter which provides for significant simplification of machine operations. The typewriter includes automatic error correcting function associated with electronic controls and a memory. A series of text data which have been deleted during an incessant error correcting operation are stored in a specially provided buffer memory from which they can be recalled upon depression of a print initiating key for causing the corresponding text to be printed automatically. An LED indicates that the current print line contains printed characters which can be erased by such automatic correcting operation. The typewriter further provides for simplified indentation and a novel carrier return mode.

Electronic typewriter

A new method of selecting knitting needles of a straight knitting machine by scanning a program carrier; producing sampling pulses; taking electric signals obtained as a result of said scanning; storing in a temporary storage a preset number of digital electric signals; reading out, in a cyclic manner, said preset number of digital electric signals in response to carriage movement; and selecting needles according to contents of said preset number of digital electric signals to be cyclically read out, is provided. An improved straight knitting machine to put the new method into practice is also provided. With this new method and the improved straight knitting machine, it has become possible to simplify a recording of the profile indicating the unit pattern and to knit a pattern having a desired profile and size.

Method and apparatus of selecting needles of a knitting machine

A new type of hand-operated knitting machine having a device for reading knitting programs is provided. Unlike the conventional reading device-equipped knitting machine, the reading device is not mounted on its carriage. Therefore, although the scanning operation of the reading device is associated with the start of the carriage movement, it is not disordered by irregular carriage handlings, thus realizing proper reproduction of the knitting pattern.

Knitting machine coupled with the program reading device

An input device for providing signals for controlling a knitting machine. The device includes a mechanical information storage means and a switch means responsive to the contents of the storage means to provide a signal corresponding to the stored information. The storage means is disposed for operation either manually by a machine operator or electromechanically in response to instructions provided by other components of the machine. The device is incorporated in a program reading apparatus to specify feeding direction of the program carrier on the knitting machine.

Control device in a knitting machine

A method and apparatus for providing patterning instructions in a knitting machine by reading a program carrier and converting the readings to digital signals to be stored in a memory means. A manually operable member cooperating with the reading means allows the instructions to be recalled from memory to be selectively determined for controlling for the knitting operation.
