It is an object of the invention to provide an improved flat panel type display apparatus allowing a low cost and a simplified wiring process. First and second terminal groups adjacent to each other as well as a third terminal group separated from the first and second terminal groups and are formed on the outside edge of a rear glass substrate of display section main body of the display apparatus. The first terminal group is comprised of connection terminals formed with wiring patterns connected to display electrodes. The second and third terminal groups and are connected to each other by predetermined wiring patterns. On connection end of TCP equipped with a driver IC, there are formed connecting terminals corresponding to the first and second terminal groups.

Flat panel type display apparatus

Driving apparatus for display panel

A drive apparatus for driving a display panel having a plurality of row electrode groups each of which includes a plurality of row electrodes, and a plurality of column electrodes arrayed in the direction intersecting with each row electrode of the plurality of row electrode groups to form display cells at the intersection points. The drive apparatus comprises a controller for generating a control signal for each of the row electrode groups, and a row electrode drive circuit for generating a drive pulse in response to the control signal and supplying the pulse to each row electrode of each of the row electrode groups. The control signal is delayed when being supplied to the drive circuit for each of the row electrode groups.

A resonance relay circuit is provided for generating a pulse having a leading edge which rises gradually and a trailing edge which decreases gradually based on the transition voltage and supplying it as a drive pulse to the display panel. The drive pulse having the leading edge which rises gradually and the trailing edge which decreases gradually is generated by switching each of the resonance circuits by the switching device to make them operative sequentially.

Display panel driving apparatus having a structure capable of reducing power loss

A drive apparatus for applying first and second drive pulses to row electrodes to drive a display panel having the row electrodes, column electrodes arranged to intersect the row electrodes, and capacitive light-emitting elements each disposed at each point of intersection of the row electrodes and the column electrodes. The drive apparatus includes a clamping circuit and a masking circuit which are formed in a module.

A selective discharge is generated at least once for selectively setting each of discharge cells of a plasma display panel either to a lit discharge cell state or to an unlit discharge cell state in accordance with a video signal. The present invention provides a plasma display driving device capable of enhancing contrast by adjusting in accordance with the ambient illuminance of a plasma display panel the level change rate at the leading edge portion of a resetting pulse for causing the occurrence of a resetting discharge, which initializes all the discharge cells of the plasma display panel. The present invention also provides a plasma display panel driving method for enabling power consumption to be held in check by changing the number of sustaining pulses per unit time to be applied to each discharge cell in an emission sustaining step in accordance with the ambient illuminance of the plasma display panel, and, in addition, by adjusting the pulse width of at the least one of the above-mentioned sustaining pulse and scanning pulse for pixel data writing. The present invention also provides a plasma display panel driving device that enables power consumption to be held in check by determining a frequency of application of a displaying pulse to be applied per unit time based on the average brightness of an input image and the illuminance around a PDP, and by applying displaying pulses to each discharge cell in accordance with the frequency of the application.
