At the time of real-time measurement, when a measurement position is specified by a marker, a marker level acquiring section acquires a waveform level from waveform data stored in a waveform memory. A level comparing section determines whether the waveform level acquired by the marker level acquiring section falls within an effective measurement level range preset correspondingly with attenuator (ATT) values. When the level comparing section determines that the waveform level does not fall within the effective measurement level range, an ATT value change section changes the ATT values into new ATT values at which a waveform level falls within the corresponding effective measurement level range. A control section allows a measured optical fiber to be measured based on the new ATT value, so as to enable waveform measurement with a good S/N ratio of not less than a predetermined value based on a measurement waveform displayed on a screen of a display section.

Optical time domain reflectometer and method for testing optical fiber using optical pulse

In order to easily and efficiently carry out various characteristic evaluations of optical fibers which have been laid down, a table file which is for carrying out association of optical fibers serving as measuring objects with measured data when the optical fibers have been measured, based on optical fiber management information provided in advance of undertaking a cable laying/maintenance construction, such as various types of information on the optical fibers serving as measuring objects, and information on a construction site, and the like, is created at an external terminal. An OTDR measures the optical fibers serving as measuring objects based on the table file created at the external terminal, and stores measured result data in which the measured optical fibers and measured data of the optical fibers have been associated with one another, and edited result data expressing edited contents when the table file and the measured result data have been edited. The external terminal generates a report based on the measured result data and the edited result data stored in the OTDR.

Optical time domain reflectometer, and optical fiber measuring method and optical fiber measuring system using the same

A light pulse generator is connected with one end of an optical fiber which selectively emits light pulses of a plurality of wavelengths to the optical fiber. A photodetector outputs a signal corresponding to the strength of the light reflected from the optical fiber. A storage unit stores the signal output from the photodetector for each wavelength. A processor determines the position and characteristic of an event based on the waveform data for each wavelength stored in the storage device. A display device has first and second display areas. A display controller allows the first display area to display the waveform data for each wavelength stored in the storage unit in a discriminable manner, and allows the second display area to display a list of positions and characteristics of events for each wavelength determined by the processor.

OPTICAL TIME DOMAIN REFLECTOMETER WHICH MEASURES AN OPTICAL FIBER WITH DIFFERENT WAVELENGTHS ACCORDING TO AN ORDER AND COLLECTIVELY DISPLAYS WAVEFORM DATA AND A LIST OF EVENTS FOR EACH WAVEFORM IN THE SAME SCREEN

A measurement data display apparatus is provided which has an input section, a display, and a control section. The display displays a main screen showing fundamental measurement data of a measured object. In addition, responsive to an operation of a first key of the input section, the control section pops up on the main screen a secondary screen which simultaneously includes a plurality of large item menus relating to additional measurement data of the measured object, and a plurality of small item menus corresponding to each of the plurality of large item menus. Each of the plurality of small item menus are displayed at a position corresponding to each of a plurality of function keys of the input section, and the plurality of large item menus are enabled to be selected by operating a second key of the input section.

Measurement data display apparatus

An optical time domain reflectometer receives a return light of an optical pulse incident on a measurement target optical fiber formed out of a plurality of optical fibers coupled in series, and measures the splice loss, return loss and unit length loss of the measurement target optical fiber. A maximum value detector detects a maximum value due to an absolute value for the splice loss and maximum values for the return loss and the unit length loss of the measurement target optical fiber, respectively, in response to the return light. A display unit displays the maximum value due to the absolute value for the splice loss and the maximum values for the return loss and the unit length loss according to items of the splice loss, the return loss and the unit length loss based on output from the maximum value detector.

Evaluation apparatus for an optical fiber transmission line

A data storage section stores a plurality of characteristic data obtained by measuring one optical fiber a plurality of number of times at time intervals or a plurality of characteristic data obtained by measuring a plurality of optical fibers. The output unit displays the waveforms of the plurality of characteristic data. A waveform display control section causes the output unit to display the waveforms of the plurality of characteristic data on the orthogonal coordinate plane defined by a distance axis and a characteristic value axis. A reference point designating section designates an arbitrary reference point within the orthogonal coordinate plane. A calculating section calculates the difference between the characteristic value axis coordinate value of the reference point designated by the reference point designating section and the characteristic value axis coordinate value of each of the characteristic data at a distance axis coordinate value nearly equal to the distance axis coordinate value of the reference point. An offset section offsets the characteristic data in the characteristic value axis direction.
