It is an object of the present invention to prevent illegal use of a terminal device, and to enhance security of the terminal device itself. Features of the present invention are: to store identification information for collation; to receive identification information for identifying an external communication terminal, which is transmitted from the external communication terminal; to collate the received identification with the stored identification information for collation so as to judge whether or not the received identification information is transmitted from an authorized communication terminal; to set a predetermined function from an execution-disabled state to an execution-enabled state when it is judged by the judgment that the received identification information is transmitted from the authorized communication terminal; and to allow the terminal device to execute the predetermined function.

A data communication terminal carries out data communication via a first communication network in which accounting is made according to a transmitted/received data amount, and via a second communication network in which accounting is made according to a connection time. The terminal calculates a communication charge according to the transmitted/received data amount of the data communication carried out via the first communication network, and according to the connection time of the data communication carried out via the second communication network. First, the portable terminal reads terminal ID previously stored in the CF card. Then, the portable terminal compares the terminal ID in the CF card with its own terminal ID previously set, and determines whether or not to be able to access the application software/database in the CF card based on the comparison result.

A communication terminal stores an assigned telephone number and a number unique to the terminal. When on-line registration is to be conducted with respect to a server, a registration screen is automatically created. On the registration screen, predetermined information is already described as entry matters required for registration by using the above described numbers. By inputting a password to this screen, the user can complete on-line registration simply. When the server provides service, the server requests the user to input the user name and the password. As for the communication terminal, the server has beforehand the telephone number, information unique to the terminal, and the like in the database. In response to a communication request from the communication terminal, the server conducts authentication by using the telephone number as the user name and the terminal number as the password.

A television telephone apparatus is coupled with a home-use large-screen TV receiver and a home-use telephone, and is connectable to another television telephone apparatus of a counter party via the home-use telephone and the public telephone network. The telephone television apparatus is equipped with a camera unit, so that both of an image produced by the camera unit, and an image transmitted from the television telephone apparatus of the counter party can be simultaneously displayed on the home-use large-screen TV receiver. While the handset of the home-use telephone is used to send/receive voice of operators, voice may be reproduced from the speaker of the home-use TV receiver. Both of an intermittent moving image having a standard image density and a still image having a relatively fine image density can be transmitted/received, so that the intermittent moving image and the still image can be simultaneously displayed on the screen of the home-use large-screen TV receiver.

An electronic musical instrument comprises a tone generator for generating a plurality of different digital waveform signals corresponding to different timbres, and a device for setting a plurality of ranges defined by two parameters, a first one of the parameters being a pitch parameter and a second one of the parameters being a key touch parameter. The parameters vary according to the musical performance, and a range for the pitch parameter in combination with a range for the key touch parameter respectively designating one of the plurality of different digital waveform signals having different timbres. An input device is provided for inputting the two parameters according to a musical performance. A judging device judges a respective range to which each of the inputted two parameters belongs, and a selector selects one of the plurality of digital waveform signals from the setting device corresponding to a judged result to generate one of the plurality of different digital waveform signals from the tone generator, the plurality of different digital waveform signals thereby being selectively generated in order to output a sound having a corresponding timbre in response to the two parameters thus inputted.

Tone information processing device for an electronic musical instrument

An imaging apparatus has a portable monitor. Image data taken by the imaging apparatus is compressed and stored. The monitor serves as a view finder which displays image data which is being observed, and also serves to reproduce and display image data stored in a memory. A removable modem is coupled to the imaging apparatus. When the modem is coupled to the imaging apparatus, image data obtained by photography is transmitted through the telephone line. Like the image data, voice data can be stored in the memory and transmitted through the modem. The image data and the voice data can be compressed and combined with each other. By transmitting and receiving such synthesized data, the imaging apparatus can be used as a TV telephone.

Portable compact imaging and displaying apparatus

A pocketable imaging apparatus which can be carried by a user. A body case has a liquid crystal display section therein and a rotatable camera section. A memory device built into the body case can store several sheets of images taken by the camera section. The liquid crystal display section displays thereon either an image stored in the memory device or an image taken by the camera section. The liquid crystal display section is provided on the back of the body case. The camera section is provided rotatably on the left side of the body case so as to form the same flat surfaces as the front and back surfaces of the body case even if the camera section is rotated through an angle of 180.degree. forward and backward. A telephone line jack is also provided on the body case to enable the user to transmit the image on a telephone via telephone lines at any place where a telephone can be installed.

A data reading apparatus reads data of dots from a recording sheet on which data is recorded in the form of a mesh pattern, and decodes the read data into binary data. The data reading apparatus has an image sensor to read black/white levels of dots of the mesh pattern using the image sensor and to binarize the read levels by a hardware component or CPU processing according to software. An image can have a high recording density by minimizing a dot size.
