A bell cup () of a rotary atomization-type coating device () is provided. This device has a rotary shaft () and a feed tube () inserted in the rotary shaft. The bell cup is fitted to a tip end part of the rotary shaft and has a coating material spreading surface () on an inner surface of the bell cup. The feed tube discharges a coating material to the coating material spreading surface. The coating material spreading surface includes a region extending from a predetermined position on a proximal end side to a distal end edge. The region is constituted of a convex curved surface toward an extension of the rotary shaft. The outermost surface of at least part (B) of the coating material spreading surface is covered by a diamond-like carbon film () free from silicon at least on its outermost surface.

Bell cup of rotary atomization type coating device

An electrode material drying method and apparatus for drying electrode material are provided for achieving quality improvement of batteries. Electrode material portions containing a solvent are spaced apart from each other on the metal foil. An inductive coil that inductively heats the metal foil faces the metal foil. An amount of heat applied to an uncoated portion of the metal foil between the electrode material portions is reduced below that of a coated portion of the metal foil on which the electrode material portions are arranged. The heat evaporates the solvent in the electrode material portions by causing the metal foil to generate heat with inductive heating while moving the metal foil and the inductive coil relative to each other in an arrangement direction, that is, a direction in which the electrode material portions are arranged.

Method and apparatus for drying electrode material

A rotary atomizing electrostatic coating apparatus having a rotating spray head, and a paint nozzle for feeding paint on the front surface of the spray head, in which the spray head is comprising a spray head main body made of an electrically insulating material, and a plurality of discharge electrodes having nearly band-form pattern extending outward approximately along the rear side shape of the spray head main body from the central side of the spray head main body with a mutual phase difference or extending symmetrically about the axis of rotation of the spray head main body. The plurality of discharge electrodes rotate together with the spray head main body, and the discharge current in the front side direction of the axis of rotation of the spray head is made uniform and increased, thereby enhancing the painting efficiency.

Rotary atomizing electrostatic coating apparatus

An electrostatic painting system for painting an object or article under corona discharge. The system comprises a spray gun which is formed at its tip end with annular air ejection opening through which air is ejected under pressure to atomize liquid paint ejected from a paint ejection opening formed at the tip end of the spray gun. An annular wire netting-like negative electrode is fixedly disposed at the tip end of the spray gun and located coaxially around the air ejection opening. The electrode functions to form an electrostatic field and a corona discharge field between the electrode and the object to be painted and to provide electric charge to the atomized paint, upon a high negative voltage being applied to the electrode.

Method of producing corona discharge and electrostatic painting system

Stress in a substance is measured by utilizing the transfer characteristics of elastic waves, such that elastic waves input to a substance are displaced by the stress load within the substance. Waves input to the substance and output therefrom by transmission or reflection are compared by fast fourier transform analysis, obtaining a wave attenuation factor quantifying the magnitude of stress in the substance.

A non-destructive, non-invasive arrangement is provided for detecting defects, such as voids, or poorly adhering layers in solid objects and laminated materials. A sensing signal is emitted by one transducer and received by two others. All of the sensors are disposed in a housing unit. The difference between the received signals is used to indicate a defect in the work piece proximate one of the transducers.

Ultrasonic inspection method for detecting defects in solid objects

A paint composition for cation electrodeposition painting, used for painting automotive vehicle body etc. The paint composition comprises basic unsaturated modified epoxy ester expressed by the general formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are functional groups at least one of which is .alpha., .beta.-ethylenic double bond containing groups and the remainder is an unsaturated fatty acid chain; R.sub.3 is a group expressed by the formula: ##STR2## and X and Y are functional groups whose total number is n+1 in which not less than one functional group is a group containing both a tertiary amine function and a urethane function, and the remainder are hydroxyl groups (--OH), n being an integer ranging from 1 to 20. The paint composition further comprises basic unsaturated modified polydiene compound which is a reaction product of polydiene compound having a molecular weight ranging from 500 to 10,000 and unsaturated double bonds with iodine value ranging from 50 to 500, and containing oxirane oxygen ranging from 3 to 12% by weight, (2) a secondary amine, and .alpha., .beta.-ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid, thereby improving ability for covering the edge of a metal member to be painted.

Paint composition for cation electrodeposition painting

An electrochromic device having two electrochromic layers respectively formed on oppositely arranged two electrodes and containing an electrolyte such as a solution of an alkali metal salt in an organic solvent which fills up the gap between the two electrodes. The electrochromic layers are formed of an electrochromic material which can alternately and stably exist in three different oxidation states and assumes three different colors in its respective oxidation states such that there is a clear contrast between the color of this material in its normal or intermediate oxidation state and a composite color given by superposition of the color in the highest oxidation state on the color in the lowest oxidation state. Prussian blue is a preferred example of such an electrochromic material, on condition that an adequate amount of water be present in the electrolyte solution or, alternatively, that the Prussian blue layers be pretreated to substitute alkali metal cation for Fe.sup.3+ interstitially existing in the crystal lattice of Prussian blue.
