A primary modified polymer composed of (1) a hydrogenated polymer obtained by hydrogenating at least one non-hydrogenated polymer selected from the group consisting of polymers comprising conjugated diene monomer units and copolymers comprising conjugated diene monomer units and vinyl aromatic monomer units and (2) groups of a primary modifier having a functional group which are bonded to the polymer (1), which has a specific vinyl aromatic monomer unit content, a specific vinyl aromatic polymer block content, a specific weight-average molecular weight, and a specific degree of hydrogenation of the double bonds of conjugated diene monomer units; a secondary modified polymer obtained by reacting a primary modified polymer composed of (&#x3b2;) a base polymer and (&#x3b3;) groups of a primary modifier having a functional group which are bonded to the polymer (&#x3b2;) with a secondary modifier; and compositions comprising the primary or secondary modified polymer and at least one other component.

A hydrogenated copolymer obtained by hydrogenating an unhydrogenated copolymer comprising conjugated diene monomer units and vinyl aromatic monomer units, the hydrogenated copolymer containing at least one hydrogenated copolymer block (B) which is obtained by hydrogenating an unhydrogenated random copolymer block comprised of conjugated diene monomer units and vinyl aromatic monomer units, wherein the hydrogenated copolymer has the following characteristics: the hydrogenated copolymer has a content of the vinyl aromatic monomer units of from more than 40% by weight to less than 95% by weight; at least one peak of loss tangent (tan &#x3b4;) is observed at &#x2212;10 to 80&#xb0; C. in a dynamic viscoelastic spectrum obtained with respect to the hydrogenated copolymer; and substantially no crystallization peak ascribed to the copolymer block (B) is observed at &#x2212;20 to 80&#xb0; C. in a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) chart obtained with respect to the hydrogenated copolymer.

A second-order modified block copolymer which can be obtained by reacting a first-order modified block copolymer with a second-order modifier, wherein the first-order modified block copolymer comprises a base block copolymer and a functional group-containing first-order modifier group bonded to the base block copolymer, wherein the base block copolymer comprises at least one polymer block comprised mainly of vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon monomer units and at least one polymer block comprised mainly of conjugated diene monomer units, and wherein the second-order modifier has a specific functional group which is reactive to the functional group of the first-order modifier group of the first-order modified block copolymer. Hydrogenated copolymer and composition thereof

A modified hydrogenated copolymer comprising a hydrogenated copolymer and a functional group-containing modifier group bonded to the hydrogenated copolymer, wherein the hydrogenated copolymer is obtained by hydrogenating an unhydrogenated copolymer comprising conjugated diene monomer units and vinyl aromatic monomer units, the unhydrogenated copolymer having at least one polymer block (H) of the vinyl aromatic monomer units, and wherein the modified hydrogenated copolymer has the following characteristics (1) to (4): (1) a content of the vinyl aromatic monomer units of from more than 60% by weight to less than 90% by weight, based on the weight of the hydrogenated copolymer, (2) a content of the polymer block (H) of from 0.1 to 40% by weight, based on the weight of the unhydrogenated copolymer, (3) a weight average molecular weight of from more than 100,000 to 1,000,000, and (4) a hydrogenation ratio of 70% or more, as measured with respect to the double bonds in the conjugated diene monomer units.

Modified hydrogenated copolymer

A modified block copolymer composition comprising (1) 100 parts by weight of a modified block copolymer consisting of vinyl aromatic hydrocarbons and conjugated dienes, containing a functional group having at least one group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxide group, an epoxy group, an amino group, a silanol group and an alkoxysilane group, or a hydrogenation product of the copolymer, and (2) 0.5 to 50 parts by weight at least one of fillers selected from the group consisting of silica-based inorganic fillers, metal oxides and metal hydroxides is disclosed. This modified block copolymer composition is excellent in heat resistance, mechanical strength, transparency, abrasion resistance, and processability.

Modified block copolymer composition

The present invention relates to a hydrogenated polymer which is a hydrogenation product of a conjugated diene polymer having an average vinyl bond content of 20% by weight or more and less than 50% by weight and a weight average molecular weight of 60,000 to 600,000 to a degree such that 85% or more of the residual double bonds in the conjugated diene units are hydrogenated, and which has a molecular weight and a number of terminal methyl group carbons as measured by GPC/FTIR analysis satisfying relationship (1):&#x2267;0.03&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)wherein Va, Vb and Vc represent the number of terminal methyl group carbon atoms per 1000 carbon atoms contained in a polymer whose molecular weight is twice the peak top molecular weight, half the peak top molecular weight, and the peak top molecular weight, respectively.

Hydrogenated polymer and process for producing the same

Disclosed is a hydrogenated copolymer obtained by hydrogenating an unhydrogenated copolymer comprising conjugated diene monomer units and vinyl aromatic monomer units, the unhydrogenated copolymer having at least one polymer block (H) of vinyl aromatic monomer units, wherein the hydrogenated copolymer has the following characteristics (1) to (5): (1) a content of the vinyl aromatic monomer units of from more than 60% by weight to less than 90% by weight, based on the weight of the hydrogenated copolymer; (2) a content of the polymer block (H) of from 1 to 40% by weight, based on the weight of the unhydrogenated copolymer; (3) a weight average molecular weight of from more than 100,000 to 1,000,000; (4) a hydrogenation ratio of 85% or more, as measured with respect to the double bonds in the conjugated diene monomer units; and (5) substantially no crystallization peak observed at &#x2212;50 to 100&#xb0; C. in a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) chart obtained with respect to the hydrogenated copolymer.
