A display device includes a first substrate; a second substrate; a plurality of pixels; a shutter mechanism section formed in correspondence with each of the pixels, a fluid sealed in an space between the first substrate and the second substrate; and an impact absorption section located to face one substrate among the first substrate and the second substrate, on the side opposite to the side on which the fluid is located. The shutter mechanism section is formed on the second substrate and includes a movable shutter section for controlling a light transmittance of each of the pixels. The impact absorption section includes a third substrate located to face the one substrate, on the side opposite to the fluid, a sealing section for bringing together the one substrate and the third substrate, and a predetermined gap formed among the one substrate, the third substrate and the sealing section.

Display device

A fixed aperture includes a first fixed slit and a second fixed slit which are arranged respectively in regions positioned on both sides with a moving line sandwiched therebetween. A drive aperture includes a first drive slit and a second drive slit which are arranged on both sides with the moving line sandwiched therebetween. The first fixed slit and the first drive slit are formed in an extending manner along a first line, and are arranged such that these slits communicate with each other when a shutter is at a position where the transmission of light is allowed. The second fixed slit and the second drive slit are formed in an extending manner along a second line which intersects with the first line, and are arranged such that these slits communicate with each other when the shutter is at a position where the transmission of light is allowed.

Provided is a liquid crystal display device which includes: a pair of transparent substrates which are arranged to face each other in an opposed manner with a liquid crystal layer sandwiched therebetween; a non-self-luminous display part having at least a light transmitting region which allows light to pass therethrough and a light shielding region which shields light; and a backlight part, wherein the transparent substrate arranged on a backlight part side includes a reflection film formed of a metal thin film in which an opening region corresponding to the light transmitting region is formed on a liquid crystal layer side of the transparent substrate on the backlight part side, and the backlight light incident on the opening region passes through the opening region, and the backlight light incident on a region where the reflection film is formed is reflected toward the backlight part side.

Liquid crystal display device

The TFT substrate includes a pixel electrode and a common electrode laminated one on top of another via an insulating layer, one of the pixel electrode and the common electrode provided farther from the liquid crystal layer being formed into a plane shape, and another of the pixel electrode and the common electrode provided closer to the liquid crystal layer having slits formed therein, each of the plurality of slits having a closed end portion. The liquid crystal display panel further includes a reflection portion for reflecting light, the reflection portion being formed at a surface of the liquid crystal display panel on the illumination device side in a portion which overlaps, in plan view, the end portion of the each of the slits in the long-side direction and a vicinity thereof, and a part of an inner region of the each of the slits.

Liquid crystal display device having particular reflection means

A light guide plate is for reflecting incident light from an end surface thereof in an inside to obtain surface emission from a front surface thereof. The light guide plate includes protrusions and recesses formed on one of the front surface and a rear surface on an opposite side of the front surface. The protrusions and recesses are formed of a shape in which first mountain-range shapes each including a first ridge continuing along a first direction, which is a direction toward the inside from the end surface, and second mountain-range shapes each including a second ridge continuing along a second direction intersecting with the first direction are combined. Each first mountain-range shape includes a pair of first side surfaces on both sides of the first ridge. Each second mountain-range shape includes a pair of second side surfaces on both sides of the second ridge.

Liquid crystal display device using light guide plate

A liquid crystal display panel formed by using a TFT substrate and a color filter substrate is polished to decrease the thickness thereof so that it can be curved. The liquid crystal display panel and various optical sheets are sandwiched between a frame forming a curved surface and a light guide plate forming a curved surface, to thereby form a curved surface. An upper polarizer plate and a lower polarizer plate are, respectively, sandwiched between the surface cover and the liquid crystal display panel, and between the liquid crystal display panel and the optical sheet, and are not adhered or are partly adhered to the liquid crystal display panel.

As shown in the figures, the main surface of the first substrate and the main surface of the second substrate are bent in the liquid crystal display device according to the present invention, where a sealing material is provided outside the display region and has a protrusion formed in at least one corner of the display region, and the distance between the side of the display region facing the protrusion and the sealing material is greater than the distance between the portion of the side and the sealing material where there is no protrusion.

A liquid crystal display device which can make the surface brightness of an edge-light-type backlight uniform is provided. The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel and a backlight which radiates light to the liquid crystal display panel. The backlight includes a light guide plate which is arranged on a back side of the liquid crystal display panel, a light source arranged on an outer peripheral portion of a first main surface of the light guide plate which faces the liquid crystal display panel in an opposed manner, and a reflection sheet which is arranged on a back side of the light guide plate as viewed from the liquid crystal display panel. The light guide plate is made of a transparent resin having a refractive index of 1.53 or less. On a surface of the light guide plate opposite to the first main surface, a second main surface which is substantially parallel to the first main surface and a plurality of inclined surfaces which are inclined at a preset angle with respect to the second main surface are formed. An angle of the inclined surface positioned near a position at which light from the light source is incident and an angle of the inclined surface positioned remote from the position at which the light from the light source from the light source is incident differ from each other.

In a liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal display panel which includes a first substrate and a second substrate, a back plate is arranged on a first-substrate-side of the liquid crystal display panel, a first polarizer is arranged between the back plate and the first substrate, the first polarizer is adhered to the back plate, a face plate is arranged on a second-substrate-side of the liquid crystal display panel, a second polarizer is arranged between the face plate and the second substrate, and the second polarizer is adhered to the face plate.

A liquid crystal display panel includes a TFT substrate and a color filter substrate respectively formed of a glass substrate. By housing the liquid crystal display panel in the inside of a frame having a curved surface, a predetermined curved surface is imparted to a display screen. Using a direct backlight having a plurality of fluorescent lamps, distances between the respective fluorescent lamps and the liquid crystal display panel are set to a fixed value. A diffusion plate has a curved surface substantially equal to the display screen. By mounting respective optical sheets on the diffusion plate, predetermined curved surfaces are imparted to the respective optical sheets. Due to such constitution, it is possible to realize a liquid crystal display device having a curved surface without using a complicated optical system.

In a liquid crystal display device comprising a pair of substrates between which a liquid crystal layer is interposed, a display surface provided on one of the substrates, and a lighting device arranged at a side of another of the substrates, the present invention forms a light shielding film on at least one of side surfaces of the substrates along a direction perpendicular to the display surface and prevents light leak leaking from the lighting device through the at least one of side surfaces.

A solid state imaging device composed of a plurality of photo-diodes each of which having a P-N junction. A P-N junction which corresponds to that of a faulty picture cell is destroyed through use of a high energy beam irradiation, such as a laser. Signal data corresponding to that of the destroyed picture cell is detected through use of a voltage comparator which outputs a signal indicative of either a preceding picture cell or that corresponding to a picture cell of a preceding row of picture cells. This system can be used for specific address information. In accordance with the imaging device the defective pixel (picture cell) information appearing in the output signal of the matrix array of photo-diodes, which is at a correspondingly different level from that of ordinary read signals, is detected by a voltage detection circuit and the relief of the defective pixels can be implemented through use of circuits which form the preceding pixel signal information or the pixel signal information corresponding to that of a preceding row. As to implementing the system in connection with a specific address information, the defective pixel signal can also be used as a specific mark representing the display position thereof.

Solid state imaging device having a defect relief system

Disclosed is an MOS solid-state imaging device including a source-follower FRT amplifier in each picture-cell and a capacitor in each row for differentially directing output signals to cancel offset parameters such as those due to deviations of manufacturing caused during the process.
