There is provided a workpiece carrier apparatus for transfer press machine in which carrier motion for each press station can be individually set. A guide beam can be raised and lowered by a lifting device so that all levels can be adjusted to match the dies. A guide rail is attached to the guide beam, and carriers are fitted so as to be movable in the feed direction of a press line along the guide rail. A most upstream side carrier on the press line is moved in the feed direction by a first carrier mechanism, and the remaining carriers are connected together by connecting rods so as to be movable in the feed direction as one unit by a second carrier mechanism. Each of the carriers have a servo motor and the amount of raising and lowering of the cross bars can be individually set.

Workpiece carrier apparatus for transfer press machine

The invention provides a continuous steel plate manufacturing facility including continuous casting equipment (12) having a plurality of strands, a plurality of rows of slab conveyers (14) disposed downstream of each of the strands, and a single slab transporting apparatus (16) disposed downstream of the slab conveyers for horizontally transporting slabs from the rows of slab conveyers to a single rolling line disposed downstream of the rows of slab conveyers. A continuous slab casting line defined by the strand and the slab conveyers diagonally intersects, at an intersection point, on the slab transporting apparatus with a slab feeding line (18) which is in communication with the rolling line. The slab transporting apparatus is horizontally swingable about the intersection point (19) between a receiving position A wherein the slab transporting apparatus is disposed on an extension of one of the continuous slab casting lines, and a feed-out position B wherein the slab transporting apparatus is disposed in alignment with the slab feeding line. The present invention provides advantages that slabs can be transported in a short period of time to the single rolling line through a plurality of the continuous casting apparatuses by using a relatively small-sized and small-powered facilities, and that the continuous steel plate manufacturing facility can be combined with three or more continuous casting apparatus.

Continuous steel plate manufacturing facilities

A press working apparatus has a press machine provided with a pair of press dies. The press machine presses a preheated metal slab being transferred in a feeding direction with the press dies mutually opposed to press the metal slab in a direction perpendicular to the thickness of the metal slab. Each press die has a pressing surface facing a respective surface of the metal slab. The pressing surface of each press die has a predetermined length extending in the feeding direction of the metal slab. At least one of the pressing surfaces has a cross section perpendicular to the feeding direction of the metal slab. The shape of the cross section gradually changes along the feeding direction of the metal slab so as to have a predetermined sectional shape for forming the metal slab into a required sectional shape. At least one surface of the metal slab is gradually formed into a predetermined sectional shape as the metal slab is passing through the press machine.

Press working apparatus

A method of guiding a strip (S) of material, e.g. steel, comprises feeding the strip between a pair of spaced guide members (15), through pinch rolls (13) and optionally on to a winder (12) to be coiled. When the strip passes the upstream end of the guide members (15), in a first stage of the method, the members are moved inwardly to narrow the gap between them to a predetermined size greater than the width of the strip. When the leading end of the strip enters the pinch rolls (13), in a second stage of the method, the members move together to further narrow the gap between them. The second stage may, be governed in response to the output from sensors (17, 18) which detect the width of the strip and the position of its centre. The positions of the guide members (15) may be continuously varied to accommodate the varying width of the strip. By varying the position of the centre line of the strip with respect to a mandrel around which the strip is wound, a coil may be produced having a uniformly wound portion affording a flat surface, which portion protrudes on one side of the coil.

Method for controlling side guide means

Upper and lower drums each with a blade are separated from each other by a hydraulic cylinder until a rotating velocity of the drums are accelerated to a predetermined level. Then, the drums are relatively approached by the cylinder so that gears each fitted to a shaft of the corresponding drum are engaged with each other to keep constant a gap between the blades. The blades are approached to a feed line of a strip to cut off the strip.
