This underwater device is twin-motor underwater floating-type power generation device that is provided with: a device main body that is equipped with a pair of pods that have a turbine, and with a connecting beam that connects these pods together in parallel with each other; a sinker; and tether cables that tether the device main body to the seabed via this sinker. The respective turbines of the pods are each provided with variable pitch turbine blades. This device is also provided with a depth meter that detects deviation in posture in the roll direction that is generated in the pair of pods, and a posture controller that controls the pitch of the variable pitch turbine blades of the respective turbines so as to nullify any deviation in posture in the roll direction that has been generated in the pair of pods and has been detected by the depth meter.

A pod of an ocean current power generation device which is serving as an underwater floating-type underwater device is provided with a ballast tank and an air storage tank. When discharging water from the ballast tank, by opening a water discharge valve and driving a water discharge pump, water inside the ballast tank is discharged to the outside through a water conduit. When supplying water, by opening a water supply valve while the water pressure outside the pod is greater than the water pressure inside the ballast tank, water is made to flow from the outside of the pod through an aperture portion, and into the ballast tank via the water conduit.

By performing a super-resolution process, a resolution-increased image is obtained from an input image in multiple frames. A high spatial frequency-emphasized image is obtained by adding the high-frequency image to the resolution-increased image. It is desirable to distribute a most recently inputted image of merchandise in a shop without showing customers visiting a shop, or to distribute an image showing how crowded a shop is without infringing on the privacy of visitors to the ship. This is achieved by separating areas showing moving objects and areas showing no moving objects of an image and synthesizing an image showing stationary objects only by replacing the moving object area with the corresponding area of an earlier inputted image showing stationary objects only, or by processing the moving object area of an image, for example, by applying a mosaic to such an area, and synthesizing the synthesized image showing stationary objects only. The image in which the moving object area has been processed enables the distribution of an image showing how crowded a shop is without infringing on the privacy of visitors.

This surveillance apparatus can automatically register a plurality of background images from a camera image. Since the background images that are no longer used are automatically erased, the drop of detection speed and detection sensitivity can be prevented.
