An EGR passage of an EGR device includes a plurality of EGR introduction passages and an EGR chamber. A plurality of cylinders include a first cylinder subset and a second cylinder subset, each of which is a pair of two cylinders positioned next to each other. An explosion interval between the two cylinders constituting the first cylinder subset is shorter than that of the second cylinder subset. A first total volume being the sum of volumes of two first EGR introduction passages associated with the first cylinder subset and a volume of a portion of the EGR chamber located between the two first EGR introduction passages is larger than a second total volume being the sum of volumes of two second EGR introduction passages associated with the second cylinder subset and a volume of a portion of the EGR chamber located between the two second EGR introduction passages.

EGR device

An internal combustion engine system includes an internal combustion engine and a control device. A difference of an intake valve closing timing with respect to a compression top dead center is referred to as a first crank angle difference; a difference of an exhaust valve closing timing with respect to an exhaust top dead center is referred to as a second crank angle difference; and a difference between the first crank angle difference and the second crank angle difference is referred to as an intake/exhaust closing timing difference. The control device is configured to execute: a fuel cut processing; and a valve driving processing to control at least one of the intake valve closing timing and the exhaust valve closing timing such that the intake/exhaust closing timing difference becomes smaller during a fuel cut operation than during a non-fuel cut operation.

A control device for an internal combustion engine is configured to: execute a first decompression operating processing such that a decompression operating state is selected in a first engine speed region that passes in the course of engine stop; execute a decompression stop processing such that a switching from the decompression operating state to a decompression stop state is performed in the course of the engine stop after passage of the first engine speed region; when a temperature correlation value is greater than or equal to a threshold value upon an engine start-up request, execute a second decompression operating processing such that the decompression operating state is selected in a second engine speed region that passes in the course of engine start-up before the start of fuel injection. When the temperature correlation value is smaller than the threshold value, the second decompression operating processing is not executed.

Provided is a hybrid vehicle that includes a power train including an internal combustion engine equipped with a plurality of cylinders and a drive motor unit. The drive motor unit includes an electric motor coupled to the internal combustion engine without a clutch. The internal combustion engine includes one or more decompression devices that are each installed for a subset of one or more cylinders and that operate to release compression pressure in the subset of one or more cylinders in at least one of the course of an engine stop and course of an engine start-up in which combustion is not performed. The subset of one or more cylinders are selected such that, when the one or more decompression devices are operating, compression is not produced sequentially in cylinders that are adjacent to each other in terms of the firing order.

Hybrid vehicle

Provided is a control device for controlling an internal combustion engine including a fuel injection valve, an ignition device, and a variable valve operating device configured to switch between a base opening/closing mode of an intake valve and a continuous valve opening mode. The control device is configured to execute a cold start control at a cold start. The cold start control includes: a startability improvement processing executed in a predetermined number of cycles after the start of cranking; and a combustion start processing executed after this predetermined number of cycles. In the startability improvement processing, the continuous valve opening mode is selected in at least an expansion stroke and an exhaust stroke, and fuel injection is executed without ignition. In the combustion start processing, the base opening/closing mode is selected continuously during one cycle, and ignition is executed.

A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes an electronic control unit that is configured to perform an operation of making a lift amount of a specific valve corresponding to one of either intake ports or exhaust ports for a specific cylinder in which an amount of condensate water produced in the port or flowing into the port is larger than in the other cylinders when the engine is stopped, in a case where production of condensate water in the ports or inflow of condensate water into the ports is predicted.

An abnormality detection device for an exhaust gas recirculation apparatus is provided that can perform abnormality detection with respect to an EGR valve while suppressing the influence of a size relationship between an intake pressure and an exhaust pressure. An ECU (Electronic Control Unit) executes processing for extracting a pulse from an intake pipe pressure value. The ECU executes arithmetic processing for performing Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) with respect to an output waveform of an intake pressure sensor obtained by sampling processing, and also executes extraction processing that extracts a 'frequency component corresponding to a period of an exhaust pulse'. This invention provides a control apparatus for an internal combustion engine that can accurately determine the existence or non-existence of an operational abnormality of a WGV in an internal combustion engine with a turbocharger that is equipped with an EGR system. The internal combustion engine includes a turbocharger, a WGV arranged in an exhaust bypass passage, an EGR valve arranged in an EGR passage, and a pressure sensor that acquires an intake pipe pressure of the internal combustion engine. The existence or non-existence of an operational abnormality of the WGV is determined based on a change in an intake pipe pressure when a valve opening request to the WGV is acquired. At such time, the EGR valve is controlled so as to enter a predetermined open state prior to the valve opening request to the WGV. Further, the existence or non-existence of an operational abnormality of the EGR valve is also jointly determined based on a change in the intake pipe pressure when a valve opening request to the EGR valve is acquired.

The present invention intends to perform control for detecting a change in air-fuel ratio with high accuracy by an exhaust gas sensor in an internal combustion engine having a turbocharger with a wastegate valve. This invention relates to an internal combustion engine and a control device for the internal combustion engine and has an object to provide an internal combustion engine and a control device therefore that can suppress occurrence of knocking if an EGR rate is increased. An EGR gas can be made to flow separately through one path via one EGR passage and an other path via another EGR passage. The EGR gas flow through the other path can be cooled by an intercooler. Since the intercooler usually has a capacity larger than that of an EGR cooler, its cooling capability is high, and the EGR gas can be made to flow into a surge tank in a state where heat of the EGR gas has been sufficiently emitted.
