A scroll compressor comprises a fixed scroll member and a revolving scroll member that engage with each other with their centrifugal walls, wherein the revolving scroll member is supported to revolve with respect to the fixed scroll member, but to avoid self-rotation thereof. The spiral-starting portion of the centrifugal wall comprises non-stepped portions formed along curves of &bgr; &prime; and &bgr; &prime; respectively, and a stepped portion formed along a curve &bgr; &prime; that provides a thickness increase area encompassed by its upper-side curved surface and its lower-side curved surface. The discharge port is located on the end board of the fixed scroll member to partly overlap with the thickness increase area by partly hollowing the lower side of the stepped portion with the prescribed height.

Scroll compressor

A compressor assembled under desirable working conditions at a low cost is disclosed. In the compressor, the first rolling bearing for permitting axial movement of the shaft is inserted into the first housing from the side where the compression mechanism is to be provided, and the second rolling bearing for restricting axial movement of the shaft is inserted into the first housing from the other side where the driving source is to be provided. The shaft is inserted into the first housing from the side where the compression mechanism is to be provided. A seal member is further provided between the rolling bearings for sealing an area between the insertion hole and the shaft, wherein the seal member is inserted into the insertion hole of the first housing from the side where the compression mechanism is to be provided before the shaft is inserted into the insertion hole.

An object of the present invention is to provide a scroll compressor that improves assembly precision and the engagement projections are not easily damaged even when a strong force is applied to the Oldham ring during operation; in order to attain this object, a scroll compressor is provided wherein a fixed scroll member comprising an end plate and an involute wrap provided on one face of the end plate, and an orbiting scroll member comprising an end plate and an involute wrap provided on one face of this end plate, and which form a plurality of compression chambers in combination with the involute wrap of the fixed scroll member, wherein a mechanism that prevents autorotation of this orbiting scroll memberand permits rotation of the orbiting scroll member with respect to fixed scroll member is provided between the orbiting scroll member and fixed scroll member.

A thrust ball bearing provided in an open scroll-type compressor can withstand a large compressive load on the bearing and prevents wear of the mating surfaces. The thrust ball bearing has a first thrust plate,for performing spiral revolution; a second thrust plate,opposing the first thrust plate,; and a retaining device,disposed between the thrust plates,and provided with retaining cavities,for retaining a ball,in each cavity where a radius &rgr; of spiral revolution of the first plate, a diameter d of the ball and a diameter D of the retaining cavity are related by an expression D&gE;d&times;&rgr;.

The object of the present invention is to provide an Oldham ring having uniform electroplating thickness and a scroll member type compressor comprising the same; in order to accomplish the above object, the electroplating process for plating an Oldham ring comprising a ring body and a plurality of key portions extending outwardly from the ring body of the present invention comprises the steps of: soaking the Oldham ring in a plating liquid; arranging at least two cathodes respectively on the inside wall of the ring body at positions corresponding to the areas between each adjacent pair of the key portions; and electroplating the Oldham ring by passing electric current between the cathodes and at least one anode contacting to the plating liquid.

A scroll compressor with which there is no leakage of the working gas from the compression chamber is disclosed, in which deformation of each end plate of the fixed scroll and revolving scroll is prevented. A scroll hydraulic machine which can prevent a key groove of an aluminum front case from being abnormally abraded even when lubricating oil runs out, and which can reduce the number of parts, is provided. The scroll hydraulic machine includes a fixed scroll, a swirling scroll performing a revolutionary swirling motion while engaging with the fixed scroll, an Oldham joint having a key for causing a swirling scroll to move in a revolutionary swirling motion while preventing the swirling scroll from rotating a front case, and a case body receiving the fixed scroll, The swirling scroll and the Oldham joint are positioned within a housing formed by attaching the front case to an opening portion of an end thereof. A key groove portion to which the key of the Oldham joint is fitted and a portion supporting a thrust force acted on the swirling scroll of the front case are made of a ferrous alloy.

A scroll compressor including a closed housing, a fixed scroll disposed in the closed housing, and a swirling scroll disposed in the closed housing, which meshes with the fixed scroll and moves in a swirling motion. The scroll compressor further including a compression chamber formed by the meshing of the fixed scroll and the swirling scroll, a suction chamber connected to the compression chamber, a discharge cavity connected to the compression chamber, and a partition separating the discharge cavity from the suction chamber. The dimension of a compressor is decreased, to facilitate the installation of the compressor in a limited space, by installing a relief valve (50) in such a manner that the relief valve (50) does not protrude from the outer peripheral surface of a closed housing (1) of a compressor, in which a compression mechanism, incorporated in a closed housing, is driven by an external drive source via an electromagnetic clutch. The means for achieving the above object is to assemble the relief valve (50) to the closed housing (1) in such a manner that the relief valve (50) does not protrude from the outer peripheral surface of the housing (1) in order to discharge gas to the outside when the gas pressure in the closed housing (1) increases abnormally.

A scroll compressor has a stationary scroll and a swivel scroll engaged with each other in a hermetic housing. A sealed terminal is provided to send signals outside of the housing from a sensor that is provided within the housing. The sealed terminal is inserted into a fitting hole that passes through the outer wall of the housing. A push nut having a plurality of nails is pressed into the fitting hole to hold the sealed terminal within the fitting hole. The push nut has a plurality of nails having an outer diameter slightly larger than the inner diameter of the fitting hole.

A scroll type fluid machine has a stationary scroll 1 and a swivel scroll 2 engaged therewith contained within a hermetic housing 4. A plurality of legs 15 are provided on the outer circumferential edge of an end plate 11 of the stationary scroll 1, and are fixed by bolts 64 to a frame 5 supporting a rotating shaft 3 via a bearing 52. A rotation prevention mechanism 6 is interposed between the frame 5 and the swivel scroll 2. The swivel scroll 2 is connected to the rotating shaft 3 so as to make revolutional swivel motions. The diameter of the end plate 11 of the stationary scroll 1 is shortened, and thereby the hermetic housing 4 is made smaller. In a low speed rotation, side surfaces of a spiral wrap of a swivel scroll are brought into pressing contact with side surfaces of a spiral wrap of a stationary scroll to thereby keep an air tight condition therebetween. When the orbiting swivelling speed of the swivel scroll exceeds the predetermined level, a predetermined gap is kept between the side surfaces of the spiral wrap of the swivel scroll and the side surfaces of the spiral wrap of the stationary scroll to thereby prevent the abnormal wear of the spiral wraps and to thereby suppress an increase of the consumption power. A counterweight is provided on a drive bush for generating a centrifugal force Fc which is greater than a centrifugal force Fs applied to the swivel scroll during the orbiting swivelling motion of the swivel scroll and which is directed in an opposite direction to that of the centrifugal force Fs. A spring member is provided for biasing the drive bush in a direction .theta. in which the orbiting swivelling radius is increased. Thus, the swivel scroll is shifted in a direction in which the orbiting swivelling radius is decreased when the orbiting swivelling speed exceeds the predetermined level.
