An image forming apparatus comprises: an image forming mechanism including a motor, and an image forming unit which operates by the motor to form an image on a recording sheet; a registration unit which registers a job; a control unit which controls the image forming mechanism to form an image corresponding to the job registered through the registration unit on a recording sheet; a number obtaining unit which obtains the number of recording sheets required for the job registered through the registration unit; and a setting unit which sets a rotation speed of the motor according to the number of recording sheets obtained by the number obtaining unit. The control unit controls the image forming mechanism to form the image corresponding to the job registered through the registration unit on the recording sheet by rotating the motor at the rotation speed set by the setting unit.

Image forming apparatus

An electronic device includes a carriage conveyance unit, a sheet conveyance unit, a failure detection unit, a position detection unit, and a jam determination unit. The carriage conveyance unit includes a motor and conveys a carriage in a main scanning direction by a driving force of the motor. The sheet conveyance unit conveys a sheet in a sub-scanning direction which crosses the main scanning direction in which the carriage is conveyed. The failure detection unit detects a conveyance failure of the carriage. The position detection unit detects a position of the carriage in the main scanning direction. The jam determination unit determines whether or not the conveyance failure is due to jamming caused by interference between the carriage and the sheet, based on the position of the carriage detected by the position detection unit at a time when the conveyance failure is detected by the failure detection unit.

In an image reading apparatus, a retreat control device moves a conveyance target through a conveyance mechanism, when a stop operation is performed by a stop control device, in an opposite direction to an image reading direction to a position further from a restart reference position set by a position setting unit. A reading control device again moves the conveyance target, which has been moved by the retreat control device, at a constant speed in the image reading direction under a predetermined condition; inputs a line start signal to a reading unit when an offset time set by a time setting unit has elapsed from a time point when the conveyance target reaches the restart reference position; and periodically inputs a line start signal to thereby cause the reading unit to perform a reading operation from a point; where the reading unit is located when the offset time has elapsed.

Image reading apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes a tray, a sheet conveying path through which sheets are conveyed, a sheet feeding unit including a sheet feed roller for feeding a first sheet to a sheet holding position, a sheet conveying unit having a conveyor roller that intermittently rotates and holds the sheets. The sheet conveying unit is upstream from a recording position, and downstream from the sheet feeding unit. The image forming apparatus also includes a recording unit, and a controller. The recording unit forms an image onto the first sheet while the conveyor roller is not rotating. The sheet feeding unit feeds a leading edge of a second sheet to the sheet conveying unit and maintains the leading edge of the second sheet colliding against the sheet conveying unit at the sheet holding position by rotating the sheet feed roller prior to completing image formation on the first sheet.

The acceleration distance measuring unit measures an acceleration distance from a moving start position of a conveyed object to a position where the conveyed object has been shifted to the constant-velocity moving state. The deceleration distance measuring unit measures a deceleration distance from a position of the conveyed object when operation of the reading control unit has been stopped to a position where move of the conveyed object in a conveyance direction has been stopped. The setback distance setting unit sets a setback distance to move the conveyed object by the setback control unit based on the acceleration distance and the deceleration distance.

Image reading apparatus for determining a setback distance after reading interruption

In a multiplied pulse generation device, a detection signal is outputted every time a driven object is driven by a specific amount. An actual cycle indicating a time interval between the detection signal and a previous detection signal is measured. An estimated cycle is estimated based on at least past two actual cycles including the actual cycle measured. A multiplied pulse is sequentially generated in such a manner that a multiplied cycle indicating a time interval per which the multiplied pulse is generated is sequentially changed according to an amount of change from the actual cycle to the estimated cycle.

When motor drive is initiated, firstly a PWM value at time of driving initiation is set to an initial setting value start_pwm, and gradually increased by a specified amount in specified period. When an encoder edge is detected, the PWM value is reset to the initial setting value, and increased again in the same manner. From second edge detection, next PWM initial value is set corresponding to a PWM value at the time of edge detection. If the PWM value at the time of edge detection is larger than det_pwm_max owing to load on the motor becoming large and thereby driving velocity becoming slower, a PWM value which is larger than previous PWM initial value is set as a new PWM initial value. The driving target can be driven stably irrelevant to fluctuation of the load on the motor.

Motor control method and control device

A driving apparatus, including a driving device which moves an object along a predetermined path; a linear encoder including a linear scale and a detector one of which is moved relatively to the other when the object is moved along the predetermined path; a control device which controls, based on an output of the detector, the driving device to move the object along the predetermined path; and at least one stopper which engages, when the object is moved along the predetermined path, the object and thereby stops a further movement of the object. The linear scale includes at least one first scale portion having a plurality of first detectable portions provided at a predetermined pitch, and at least one second scale portion having a plurality of second detectable portions including at least one pair of adjacent second detectable portions which are adjacent to each other and which are distant from each other by a predetermined distance smaller than the predetermined pitch. The first scale portion and the second scale portion are located relative to each other such that when the object is moved toward the stopper, the detector first detects the first detectable portions and then detects the second detectable portions, while sequentially outputting a plurality of detection signals, and the control device controls, based on the detection signals, the driving device to move the object along the predetermined path.

Driving apparatus

An inkjet recording apparatus of a serial recording type which comprises a recording head, a carriage and a conveying device. The recording head is capable of selectively ejecting ink toward a recording medium. The carriage with the recording head mounted thereon reciprocatingly moves in specified directions. The conveying device intermittently conveys the recording medium in a direction perpendicular to the specified directions when the recording head does not eject ink. An image is recorded on the recording medium by repeatedly performing, in turn, movement of the carriage and ejection of ink by the recording head, and intermittent conveyance of the recording medium by the conveying device. The inkjet recording apparatus also includes a vibration applying device that vibrates at least one of the recording medium and the recording head when the recording head ejects ink toward the recording medium while the carriage is being moved.

Inkjet recording apparatus

The conveyance control device includes a detector that detects the conveyance distance of an object by a conveyance device, a section determiner that determines to which section within an object a reference point of the object belongs, and a target setter, based on a determination result of the section determiner, sets the target conveyance speed corresponding to the section to which the reference point belongs. Based on a detection result of the detector, the operation amount calculation sequentially calculates the operation amount of the conveyance device. The conveyance controller provides a control signal corresponding to the operation amount calculated by the operation amount calculator for the conveyance device and makes the conveyance device convey the object to move a reference point of the object from the conveyance start point to the conveyance destination at a speed corresponding to the target conveyance speed.

An image recording apparatus includes a record unit; a first roller provided upstream of the record unit; a second roller provided downstream of the record unit; a motor which drives the first and second rollers; a first drive signal generation unit which generates a first drive signal based on a first rotation amount of the first roller and a first target rotation amount; a correction value generation unit which generates a correction value based on the first rotation amount and a second rotation amount of the second roller; a target value generation unit which generates a second target rotation amount based on the first target rotation amount and the correction value; a second drive signal generation unit which generates a second drive signal based on the second target rotation amount and the second rotation amount; and a controller which controls the motor by the first drive signal until a conveyed sheet reaches a position and controls the motor by the second drive signal thereafter.

The control device includes a target setter that sets the target travel distance of the driving object in every predetermined period when the driving object is moved, and an operation amount determiner that determines whether or not the operation amount calculated by the operation amount calculator is equal to or more than a predetermined upper limit. The target setter sets the target travel distance according to a first rule when the operation amount is determined by the operation amount determiner to be less than the upper limit. When the operation amount is determined to be equal to or more than the upper limit by the operation amount determiner, the target setter sets according to a second rule.

A motor control device includes a velocity detection unit, a motor control unit, a phase difference detection unit, and a correction value calculation unit. The velocity detection unit detects each velocity of a plurality of driven bodies or of a plurality of motors which independently drives a corresponding one of the driven bodies. The motor control unit independently controls each of the motors based on the velocity and a predetermined velocity directive value. The phase difference detection unit detects a phase difference among each of the driven bodies. The correction value calculation unit calculates a correction value for the velocity or the velocity directive value based on the phase difference.

A drive control apparatus including a feed-forward operation amount generation device, a feed-back operation amount generation device, a feed-forward correction amount generation device and a feed-forward operation amount correction device is provided.
