A disk device is provided with a disk tray having a detachable guide member, which guides an optical disk between a depression and claws provided thereon. When an optical disk is to be mounted within a disk device in the vertical orientation, the optical disk can automatically be guided between depression and claws by moving the disk along the guide member. In addition, because the guide member is detachable, it can be attached if the disk device is to be used in vertical orientation and removed if it is to be used in horizontal orientation.

Disk device and guide member

A disk device that can accommodate disks of different diameter sizes and can be used in the horizontal or vertical orientation is provided with a disk tray on which an optical disk is placed, a chucking member that holds an optical disk in place at its center, and a drive motor that rotates the chucking member and is installed on a base member, which is rotatably supported inside the main body of the disk device. The chucking member is movable with the disk tray during the inward and outward movement of the disk tray with respect to the main body of the disk device, while the drive motor is also moved into and out of engagement with the chucking member as the disk tray moves into and out of the main body of the disk device.

Disk device

A disk device is provided with a disk tray having a holding part that holds part of an outer circumference of an optical disk when the disk is inserted into a depression on the disk tray, the disk being held roughly parallel to the surface of the depression. The holding part prevents a disk mounted in a disk tray used in the vertical orientation from tilting with respect to the disk tray, which could interfere with insertion of the disk tray into the disk device.

An optical disk device for correctly positioning on a turntable, an optical disk composed of two optical disks glued together, regardless of how poorly they are attached together. The device includes the turntable, on which the optical disk is placed, a disk holding part onto which a mounting hole of the optical disk is fitted, and a clamping member, which is provided on part of the circumferential surface in the disk holding part, is free to move in the radial direction of the disk holding part, and is impelled radially outward. The clamping member is formed in a mountain shape by two sloping faces and a sloping faces meet. The tip is beveled to a shape such that the tip makes a surface contact with the optical disk when the optical disk is mounted on the turntable.

Optical disk device

It is an object of the present invention to provide a disk device that can use disks of different diameter sizes and can be used in a vertical orientation. A disk tray ( ) that makes up the disk drive has holding members ( ) which hold a disk inserted in depressions ( ) from outside its surface. The holding members ( ) are construed so as to be able to move along guide grooves ( ). By moving holding members ( ) to fit the diameter size of the disk that is to be inserted in the depressions ( ) the lower part of the disk can be held by the holding members ( ) even if the disk device is used in vertical orientation.

A main memory stores an operating guidance program for displaying operating guidance on a display monitor and enabling control members of a manual control input device to emit continuous or flickering light in relating to the operating guidance. Based on a command from the manual control input device, a CPU executes the operating guidance program stored in the main memory. The operating guidance program enables the control members to emit continuous or flickering light sequentially and displays operating guidance for at least the control members which are emitting continuous or flickering light on the display monitor. Not only the operating guidance is displayed on the display monitor, but also visual sensations are given to the game player by controlling the control members to emit continuous or flickering light on the manual control input device.

Entertainment system and supply medium

A main memory stores a program for enabling a plurality of control members of a manual control input device to emit light in a video game. A CPU executes the program stored in the main memory based on control commands from the manual control input device. The program sends light emission data to control member groups of the manual control input device to enable the control member groups to light successively. Since the control members of the manual control input device emit continuous or flickering light, the user can enjoy the video game because of visual sensations produced by the manual control input device.
