According to one embodiment, a lighting control system includes a plurality of luminaire, a sensor device, a luminance sensor, and a lighting control unit. The luminaires are set in a lighting space. The sensor device detects presence of a person in the lighting space. The luminance sensor detects indirect luminance in a predetermined position in the lighting space by the luminaire. The lighting control unit subjects the luminaire to lighting control such that the indirect luminance detected by the luminance sensor does not fall below a predetermined value in a position where the sensor device detects presence of the person.

Lighting control system and lighting control method

According to one embodiment, a luminaire is provided which can enhance the feeling of brightness of a space and can reduce glare. The luminaire includes an equipment mounted on a ceiling surface. The equipment includes a light source and a light control unit. When an amount of light emitted outside from the equipment is an equipment luminous flux, and a direction right under the equipment has a luminous intensity distribution angle of 0&#xb0;, the light control unit controls to cause a luminous flux falling within a range of a luminous intensity distribution angle of 90&#xb0; to 120&#xb0; to be 20% or more of the equipment luminous flux and to cause a luminous flux falling within a range of a luminous intensity distribution angle of 60&#xb0; to 90&#xb0; to be 20% or less of the equipment luminous flux.

Luminaire controlling a luminous intensity distribution

Plural luminaires are installed in a lighting space surrounded by a wall part. A sensor equipment detects existence or nonexistence of a person in the lighting space. If existence of a person in the lighting space is detected, the sensor equipment detects a direction of the person. The sensor equipment detects a distance between the wall part positioned in front of the direction of the person and the person. A lighting control unit selectively switches between a first control for performing lighting control of the luminaires to illuminate the wall part positioned in front of the direction of the person if the detected distance is a specified distance or less, and a second control for performing lighting control of the luminaires to reduce brightness at a place as the place becomes farther from a position of the person if the detected distance is larger than the specified distance.

A high pressure discharge lamp starter device comprises a starter circuit OC and control element CC. The starter circuit OC is capable of starting up an essentially mercury free high-pressure discharge lamp HPL containing a rare gas and a metal halide. The control element CC controls the starter circuit OC to start up the high pressure discharge lamp HPL, supply a lamp power larger than twice a rated lamp power, reduce lamp power such that light output is not significantly larger compared to that during a stable light emission time and the light output does not rapidly increase, when a metal halide charged in the high pressure discharge lamp HPL is abruptly vaporized, thereafter, gradually reduce the lamp power so as to settle the rated lamp power.

High pressure discharge lamp starter device and an automotive headlight device

A metal halide lamp comprises a light-transmitting discharge vessel having a discharge space portion, a sealed portion, and a pair of electrodes projecting into the discharge space. The discharge vessel is constructed and arranged to have a D/L ratio being in a range of about 0.25 to about 1.5 and a t/L ratio being in a range of about 0.16 to about 1.1, wherein L is an interspace of tips of the electrodes, D is a maximum inner diameter of the discharge vessel, and t is a maximum wall thickness of the discharge space portion. An ionizable filling contains a rare gas and a metal halide including at least sodium (Na) or scandium (Sc) and does not substantially include mercury (Hg). Each of conductive wires is connected electrically to the electrodes extending from the discharge vessel. The metal halide lamp may be used for a metal halide lamp apparatus or a vehicle lighting apparatus.

A high-pressure discharge lamp which includes a light-transmitting air-tight discharge container, an electrode formed of tungsten as a main component and fixedly sealed in the discharge container, and a discharge medium containing a halide of a light emitting metal and sealed in the discharge container. The surface of the electrode is defined as follows. That is, the average value of center line average roughness Ra of the surface, is set to 0.3 &mgr;m or less, or the average value of the center line average roughness Rz of the surface of the electrode, is set to 1.0 &mgr;m or less, or the average value of the surface area increasing rate of the surface of the electrode is set to 1.0% or less.

A non-electrode discharge lamp apparatus comprises a discharge tube, exciting coils wound on an outer periphery of the discharge tube, a vessel, having liquid-tightness, containing the discharge tube and the exciting coil means, and lead line guiding means for guiding lead lines connected to the exciting coils to the outside of the vessel, thereby supplying high frequency electric power to the exciting coils through the lead lines. Liquid is prevented from directly contacting the discharge tube and the exciting coils, temperature of the discharge tube can be suitably maintained, and an irradiation efficiency of ultraviolet rays can be prevented from being reduced.

Non-electrode discharge lamp apparatus and liquid treatment apparatus

An electrodeless high intensity discharge lamp has a light transmissive ceramic arc tube for containing a discharge sustaining medium and a hollow tube member. An excitation coil for causing an arc discharge is situated about the arc tube. The ceramic arc tube includes a first portion for developing the arc discharge therein and a second portion protruding outwardly from the first portion. The hollow tube member is so disposed in the second portion that a space is provided between the inner wall surface of the second portion and the outer wall surface of the hollow tube member. The space is in communication with the interior of the first portion for allowing the medium to be condensed and retained during the lamp operation.
