An illumination device including a light source device, a rotary diffusion plate, which includes a first surface, a second surface, a diffusion section disposed on the first surface, and a detection section disposed on at least one of the first surface and the second surface, and to which light from the light source device is input, a light collecting optical system to which light from the diffusion section is input, a detector adapted to detect light from the detection section, and a control device adapted to control the light source device in accordance with a signal output from the detector. The detection section is disposed at a position different from a position where the light from the light source device enters the diffusion section.

In at least one embodiment, a projection display device comprises a device main body, a shutter that opens and closes an opening for ventilation, and an electricity storage section that stores power from an external power source. If an interruption detecting section detects a power supply from the external power source is stopped and a time in which the power supply is stopped is longer than a predetermined time, the interruption detecting section detects that the external power source is interrupted. If the interruption of the external power source is detected, a control section performs a control to reduce a power consumption of the device main body and a control to drive the shutter so that the shutter is closed by the power supplied from the electricity storage section.

Projection display device and method for controlling the same

A light source device includes a plurality of light emitting devices connected in series, an open-circuit failure detecting section, a failure detection and maintenance section, and a short-circuiting section connected in parallel to at least one light emitting device among the plurality of light emitting devices. The open-circuit failure detecting section detects an open-circuit failure of the light emitting device connected in parallel. The failure detection and maintenance section shifts to, when the open-circuit failure detecting section detects the open-circuit failure, a circuit state during the open-circuit failure and maintains the circuit state to which the failure detection and maintenance section shifts. The short-circuiting section short-circuits, when the failure detection and maintenance section maintains the circuit state during the open-circuit failure, both ends of the light emitting device in which the open-circuit failure is detected.

A projector includes a light source that emits excitation light, a fluorescent body that converts the excitation light into fluorescence, a liquid crystal optical modulation device that modulates light output from the fluorescent body, an optical sensor that detects at least one of the excitation light passing through the fluorescent body and the fluorescence converted by the fluorescent body, and a control device that controls at least one of the light source and the liquid crystal optical modulation device based on a detection result of the optical sensor.

A light source control device is for controlling a solid-state light source array having a plurality of solid-state light sources connected in series to each other, and includes a detector (a current detection resistor, voltage detection resistors, and operational amplifiers) adapted to detect at least one of a voltage applied to the solid-state light source array and a current supplied to the solid-state light source array, and a control circuit adapted to determine whether or not discontinuity of at least one of the voltage and the current is present using a detection result of the detector, and change control of one of the current and electrical power performed on the solid-state light source array if it is determined that the discontinuity is present.

A projection-type display device according to an embodiment of the invention modulates light emitted from a solid-state light source array and projects the modulated light on a screen. The projection-type display device includes a power source device that generates power used for driving the solid-state light source array using power supplied from a power source, an instant interruption detecting circuit that detects an instant interruption of the power source, and a control device that, in a case where the instant interruption of the power source is detected by the instant interruption detecting circuit, performs control of extinguishing the solid-state light source array during at least a part of an instant interruption period until recovery after the detection of the instant interruption of the power source.
