An edger having a main frame, at least one front wheel fastened in the front portion of the main frame, two rear wheels fastened in the rear portion of the main frame, a rotary blade disposed in the front portion of either side of the main frame and capable of conducting edging, an engine mounted on the main frame and a driving device for operating the rotary blade with the engine, the edger comprising: a supporting arm for supporting the rear wheel positioned opposite to the rotary blade in such a manner that the position of the rear wheel positioned opposite to the rotary blade can be vertically adjusted with respect to the main frame; and a positioning mechanism for positioning the vertical position of the rear wheel disposed between the main frame and the supporting arm.

Edger

An edger having a driving device for operating a rotary blade, the driving device including a driving pulley; a pulley to be driven; a driving belt arranged between the two pulleys; a swing arm having the center of its swinging motion at a position different from the center of rotation of the driving pulley; a rod slidably supported by the swing arm and supporting the pulley to be driven; a spring for urging the rod in a direction in which the distance between the shafts of the two pulleys is elongated; a drive-side pulley cover and a driven-side pulley cover. The belt is engaged/released by changing the distance between the shafts of the two pulleys by swinging the swing arm, the distance between the driven-side pulley cover and the pulley to be driven having a small value so as to induce contact between the pulley to be driven and the driving belt at the time of belt release, and belt inlet and outlet portions of the drive-side pulley cover being shaped and arranged to be closer to the driving belt when under tension than the intermediate portion of the drive-side pulley cover so as to release the driving pulley and the driving belt. Another embodiment of the edger includes a driven-side pulley cover having a slant portion for a sliding and pushing the driving belt to the side surface of a pulley groove of the pulley to be driven when the belt is loosened.

Edger with improved rotary blade driving device

An edger having a main frame, at least one front wheel fastened in the front portion of the main frame, two rear wheels fastened in the rear portion of the main frame, a rotary blade disposed in the front portion of either side of the main frame and capable of conducting edging, an engine mounted on the main frame and a driving device for operating the rotary blade with the engine, the edger comprising: a resin cover fastened to a circular flange on the rotary-blade supporting shaft for covering a portion of the rotary blade. A structure for fitting the rotary blade cover includes a thin metal plate having an outer diameter larger than the flange, and fastening members for clamping the inner portion of the cover between the flange and the thin metal plate. Bolt assemblies are provided for fastening the thin metal plate and the cover together at a position outside the flange.

An edger is provided having a main frame, at least one front wheel fastened in the front portion of the main frame, two rear wheels fastened in the rear portion of the main frame, a rotary blade disposed in the front portion on either side of the main frame and capable of conducting edging, an engine mounted on the main frame and a driving device for operating the rotary blade with the engine, a supporting arm pivotally connected at its upper end to the main frame and rotatably supporting at its lower end the rear wheel positioned opposite to the rotary blade in such a manner that the position of the rear wheel can be vertically adjusted with respect to the main frame, and a positioning mechanism for physically positioning the vertical position of the rear wheel disposed between the main frame and the supporting arm, the positioning mechanism comprising a securing portion formed in either the main frame or the supporting arm, a securing arm having a plurality of securing steps which can be secured to the securing portion, the securing arm being rotatably fastened to the supporting arm or the main frame and connected to and urged by urging means in a direction in which the securing step is secured by the securing portion and the front end portion of the securing arm being rotated against an urging force of the urging means by operating a lever by the hand or foot so that a state in which the securing step and the securing portion has been engaged to each other is released.
