A recording-medium transfer device having a anti-rattle construction is provided. A transfer roller of the recording-medium transfer device is arranged above a chassis to be perpendicular to a direction X of transferring recording medium. The transfer roller has a structure in which a shaft is inserted in rolling member made of a material having flexibility. Projecting portions and are formed on the chassis to oppose to both ends of the rolling member. In both ends of the rolling member, clearances are respectively formed to permit the deformation produced by its abutment with the projecting portions and . In the process for inserting the disc, the projecting portions and are moved away from the transfer roller . Upon receiving a driving force from a driving motor and gears to , the rolling member of the transfer roller is rotated keeping in contact with the disc so as to transfer the disc toward a clamping position. When the transfer of the recording medium is completed, both ends of the rolling member press on the projecting portions and , thereby the transfer roller is fixed to the chassis so as to prevent chatter due to outside vibration from occurring.

An adapter is detachably mounted on the main chassis. A pair of centering arms are mounted on the adapter for centering a small diameter disc carried by the disc carrying rollers, and a small diameter disc detector arm mounted on the adapter for operating the large diameter disc detector arm for clamping the carried small diameter disc.

An optical pickup feed device for feeding an optical pickup in a radial direction of an optical disc, includes guide rods enabling the optical pickup to move in a predetermined radial direction of an optical disc, and a driving system for producing a driving force to the optical pickup. The driving system comprises: a feed screw arranged in parallel with a direction in which the optical pickup moves, and is rotatable by a driving force from a driving motor; a nut engaging on the feed screw for moving the optical pickup, said nut including an engaging portion engageable with the feed screw and a bank portion provided on either side of the engaging portion, said bank portion being protruding toward the feed screw.

An automatic disc changer having a disc player, a disc holder for storing a plurality of discs, and a disc loading device for carrying a disc from the disc holder and for loading the disc on the disc player, wherein the disc loading device has a first arm pivotably mounted on a shaft which is slidably mounted on a base in a direction perpendicular to an axis of a disc to be carried by the disc loading device, a second arm pivotably mounted on the base, means for moving the shaft in a direction so that the first arm is rotated to engage a disc in the disc holder and move the disc outwardly from the disc holder; and means for rotating the arm toward the disc held by the first arm so as to engage the disc, whereby the disc is grasped by the first and second arms.

Automatic disc changer for a disc reproducing device

A disc holder has a support portion comprising arcuated portions. The arcuated portions include opposite upper portions the curvature of which is substantially equal to that of a larger disc, and opposite lower portions the curvature of which is substantially equal to that of a smaller disc. Thus, the larger disc is held by the upper portions, and the smaller disc is held by the lower portions.

Optical disc reproducing device

Disc reproducing device has a disc holder wherein a plurality of discs are horizontally arranged. A disc player is provided to be moved in parallel to an axial direction of the discs. A loading device is provided to load the disc on the disc player. The loading device has a first arm and a second arm which are rotatably provided in a plane perpendicular to the axial direction, and arranged so as to grip the disc to carry it.

Disc loading device

An upper clamping device and a lower clamping device are provided for clamping a double-sided optical disc in cooperation with the upper clamping device. An annular holder is axially movably provided in the upper clamping device. A plurality of spheres are radially movably mounted on the holder. A hub having a slant at a periphery thereof is axially movably provided. When the hub is downwardly moved the slant urges the spheres to engage them with an inside wall of a center hole of the optical disc. Thus, the optical disc is centered.

A dual-side use disk player comprises a pressure applying mechanism and a position select/hold mechanism. The pressure applying mechanism includes an attracting force generating mechanism for attracting a pressure member toward a turntable. The pressure applying mechanism applies a disk pressing force to the pressure member for pressing a disk against the turntable. The pressure member holds a second centering member to be inserted into a center hole of a circular substrate placed on the side of the disk which is out of contact with the turntable. When a support member for supporting the pressure member is at a non-clamping position or farthest from the turntable, the position select/hold mechanism holds the pressure member at a position apart from the disk carrying surface of the turntable. When the support member is at a first clamping position and a second position, the position select/hold mechanism is out of contact with the pressure member. With the movement of the support member between the first clamping position and the second clamping position, the position select/hold mechanism positions the second centering means at an insertion allowing position where the second centering means is allowed to be inserted into the center hole of the circular substrate, and an insertion prohibiting position where the second centering means is prohibited from being inserted thereinto. Further, when the support member is at the second position and the second centering member is at the insertion allowing position, the second centering member is closer to the support member than the disk contact member.
