A method, system, and computer program for high-availability database systems. The method commences by replicating (e.g., from a first server to a second server) a data structure having entries describing resource locks and client states. The replication can be performed to any number of servers. Upon detecting a failure of a connection between the first server and a client to which the first server is connected, the system establishes a new connection between the second server and the client by updating the replicated data structure to describe new connection between the second server and the client and updating the entries of the replicated data structure to reflect the new connection and the then current aspects of the resource locks and client states. The client can be a database instance, and the act of replicating can be accomplished using a broadcast channel. The servers can be organized in a computing cluster.

Systems and methods to retain and reclaim resource locks and client states after server failures

A method, system, and computer program product for restoring blocks of data stored at a corrupted data site using two or more mirror sites. The method commences by receiving a trigger event from a component within an application server environment where the trigger event indicates detection of a corrupted data site. The trigger is classified into at least one of a plurality of trigger event types, which trigger event type signals further processing for retrieving from at least two mirror sites, a first stored data block and a second stored data block corresponding to the same logical block identifier from the first mirror site. The retrieved blocks are compared to determine a match value, and when the match value is greater than a confidence threshold, then writing good data to the corrupted data site before performing consistency checks on blocks in physical or logical proximity to the corrupted data site.

Detection of logical corruption in persistent storage and automatic recovery therefrom

Embodiments of a system and method for distributed file system I/O recovery in storage networks. Embodiments may detect loss of access to a server in the storage network and recover application I/O requests in real-time once access to the server is restored. Embodiments may detect server and/or network failures and store failed and new I/O requests. Recovery from the failure (e.g. network reconnect, server node reboot, or failover, if this is a clustered environment) may be detected and, after recovery is detected, any stored failed and new I/O requests may be sent to the server. In one embodiment, to detect recovery from the failure, a failed I/O request may be repeatedly re-issued until the I/O request succeeds. Embodiments may be implemented in a variety of storage environments, including environments where clients issue direct I/O over a storage network to storage and control I/O over a network to a server.

System and method for distributed file system I/O recovery

A system employing asymmetric distributed block virtualization includes a volume server, a plurality of volume clients, and one or more physical block devices. The volume server aggregates storage in the physical block devices into a logical volume and makes the logical volume accessible to the volume clients for input/output (I/O) operations. In order to manage different I/O access requirements (such as read-only access versus read-write access) of the volume clients, the volume server maintains a different I/O access policy for each volume client to control the kinds of input/output operations that the volume client is allowed to perform on the logical volume.
