According to some embodiments, a method, a system, and an apparatus to determine a concentration of carbon nanotubes in a solution. In some embodiments, the method includes determining a photoluminescence intensity of a solution, mixing a sample of carbon nanotubes of an unknown concentration with the solution, determining a photoluminescence intensity of the mixture of the sample of carbon nanotubes and the solution, and determining a concentration of carbon nanotubes in the sample of carbon nanotubes based on the determined photoluminescence intensity of the mixture of the sample of carbon nanotubes and the solution.

Determination of carbon nanotube concentration in a solution by fluorescence measurement

A method, apparatus, and system are described to generate a single-crystal film formed of an organic material in a microstructure chamber having a growth zone with defined dimensions. A flow of at least one of a 1) saturated solution of organic crystalline molecules or 2) molten organic crystalline molecules may be controlled to the growth zone to achieve a balance between crystal-film growth and the flow of the at least one of 1) additional saturated solution of organic crystalline molecules or 2) additional molten organic crystalline molecules into the growth zone.

Methods and apparatuses for a dynamic growing of single-crystal thin-film composed of organic materials

Carbon nanotube orientation may be detected by exposing the carbon nanotube to a pair of laser beams oriented transversely to one another. By observing the effect on the intensity of transmitted light from a first laser beam when the polarization of the second laser beam is changed, the carbon nanotube orientation can be derived.

Detecting the orientation of carbon nanotubes

A projection display may be formed by an imager which creates a portion of each of a plurality of spatially separated segments which together make up an overall image. The imager may produce one of those segments at any given instant of time. That segment is then replicated to fill each of the segments that form the overall image area. However, the segments that correspond to locations where that image portion should not exist are filtered out so that only one image portion for the correct segment is displayed. Each of the other segments may be produced in a time sequential fashion so that sequentially the segments fill the entire image. Thus, using this technique, substantially higher resolution may be achieved from a projection display system using fewer number of pixels in the microdisplay, in some embodiments.

Resolution multiplication technique for projection display systems

An embodiment of the present invention is a technique to monitor carbon nanotubes (CNTs). A carbon nanotube (CNT) is manipulated in a fluid by a laser beam. An illuminating light from a light source is aligned along axis of the CNT to produce an optical response from the CNT. The CNT is monitored using an optical sensor according to the optical response.

Real-time monitoring optically trapped carbon nanotubes

A method is described that comprises sorting carbon nanotubes (CNTs) within a fluidic flow for a targeted subset of the CNTs. The sorting comprises attracting at least a portion of the CNTs within the fluidic flow in a direction of increasing intensity of an electric field component of a substantially stationary beam of light. The electric field component has a frequency that is less than one or more resonant frequencies of the CNTs within the portion.

Application of static light to a fluid of CNTs for purposes of sorting the CNTs

A signal may be split by a splitter into a plurality of output signals. Each of these output signals may then be amplified. Amplified spontaneous emission noise may be removed using a tunable filter for each of the signal outputs. As a result, an output signal may be provided with greater power so that, in some embodiments, a single split signal may be utilized to service more end users.
