A method for application connection includes receiving, by a first electronic device, a list of application active sessions based on the active sessions being in an area of a global positioning system (GPS) location of the first electronic device. The first electronic device receives a selection of an active session associated with a first application running on a second electronic device. In response to the selection of the active session, the first electronic device receives information including at least a service set identification (SSID) and a network security key associated with the secure local network. The first electronic device connects to the secure local network without user input of the SSID and the network security key from a user of the first electronic device. The first electronic device connects to the first application running on the second electronic device via the secure local network.

Application connection for devices in a network

The user experience of application downloading and usage between multiple devices in a network is enhanced. One instance of an app on a first device is able to identify and verify installation and/or execution of a companion app on a second device where the two devices may have entirely different platforms (e.g., smartphone operating system and TV platform). The experience for users who have devices on the same network converge in order to improve the user experience with respect to a particular app. In this manner, an enhanced and efficient means of providing an n-screen experience with the app is enabled; ways that provide synergy between devices on the same network.

Downloading and launching an app on a second device from a first device

A method for application connection includes receiving a list of application active sessions by a first electronic device based on location of the active sessions in relation to a location of the first electronic device. An active session is selected using the first electronic device to gain access for connection to a first application by the first electronic device.

A method and system for filtering data packets, is provided. One implementation involves filtering data packets using a set of filters, each filter having a bit mask and corresponding bit values, by categorizing the filters into different groups based on their bit mask value differences, and generating a new mask of bits having corresponding bit values, applying the new mask to the incoming packet to select a filter category for the incoming packet, and filtering the incoming packet by applying the group of filters for the selected category to the incoming packet.
