A data center network system based on software-defined network (SDN) is provided. The data center network system includes a plurality of physical machines, a plurality of Ethernet switches, a plurality of OpenFlow switches connected to each other, and a central control apparatus. Each of the physical machines includes a virtual switch and at least one virtual machine. The virtual switches modify destination media access control (MAC) addresses of packets to MAC addresses of the OpenFlow switches, such that the Ethernet switches forward the packets received from the virtual switches to the corresponding OpenFlow switches according to the MAC addresses of the OpenFlow switches. The OpenFlow switches modify the destination media access control (MAC) addresses of the packets to MAC addresses of virtual machines, such that the Ethernet switches forward the packet received from the OpenFlow switches to the corresponding virtual switches.

Data center network system based on software-defined network and packet forwarding method, address resolution method, routing controller thereof

A network controlling method and a network controller are provided. The network controlling method includes the following steps. A hybrid SDN-Ethernet system including a plurality of hosts, a plurality of Ethernet switches and m Software-defined networking switches (SDN switches) is provided. m is larger than or equal to 1. A first path according to at least one default spanning tree in the hybrid SDN-Ethernet system is obtained. m&#xd7;k optional paths are obtained. Each of the m SDN switches is set as a beginning of each of k of the m&#xd7;k optional paths. A second path is selected according to the m&#xd7;k optional paths and the first path of the at least one default spanning tree.

Network controlling method and network controller

A method for changing a transmission path of packets transmitted from a first node to a second node in a software-defined network is provided. The method includes removing a flow entry corresponding to a first transmission path on a flow table of the first node after a plurality of first data packets intended to be transmitted to the second node are transmitted from the first node via relay nodes of the first transmission path. The method also includes transmitting a flush packet to the first node and setting the flush packet to be transmitted to the second node according to the first transmission path; and when the second node receives the flush packet and transmits a packet inquiry message corresponding to the flush packet to the controller, setting a flow entry corresponding to a second transmission path on a flow table of the second node.

Method and system for changing path and controller thereof

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for medium access control (MAC) in an optical packet-switched network. The MAC apparatus may comprise a bandwidth allocation module and an MAC processor. The bandwidth allocation module determines a data transmission limit based on a probabilistic quota plus credit mechanism for each node of the network, dynamically informs all downstream nodes of unused quota and allows the downstream nodes to use remaining bandwidths of the upstream node. Through a control message carried by a control channel, the MAC processor determines uploading, downloading and data erasing for a plurality of data channels, and updates the corresponding contents in the control message.

Apparatus and method for medium access control in an optical packet-switched network and the network thereof

Disclosed is a distributed controlled passive optical network system and bandwidth control method thereof. The system comprises an optical line terminal (OLT), plural optical network units (ONUs) and a splitter with combiner. Each ONU has a first Tx/Rx for respectively transmitting and receiving data packets on an upstream data channel and a downstream data channel, and a second Tx/Rx for transmitting and receiving control signals/commands on a control channel. Upstream data of each ONU is carried by the upstream data channel and sent to the OLT through the splitter with combiner. Downstream data of the OLT is carried by the downstream data channel and sent to corresponding ONUs through the splitter with combiner. With the control signals/commands carried by the control channel, the required information of network status among the ONUs is provided.

Distributed controlled passive optical network system and bandwidth control method thereof

A communications system includes an optical receiver for receiving optical signals and for converting the optical signals into electrical signals, a transimpedance amplifier ('TIA') for filtering the electrical signals, a limiting amplifier coupled with the TIA, an automatic threshold control ('ATC') coupled with the TIA for providing a reference voltage for the limiting amplifier. The ATC further includes a common emitter circuit and an emitter follower circuit, wherein logic high signals and logical low signals in the electrical signals are determined based on the reference voltage output from the ATC.

Burst mode optical receiver and system and method therefor

A multi-wavelength optical packet switch system with shared output buffer is disclosed, which includes N input fibers, N output fibers, an input device, a wavelength converter, a wavelength router, an output buffer, a wavelength classifier and a control device. The present invention utilizes both the tunable wavelength converter and the wavelength router to accomplish multi-wavelength optical packet switching. The present invention also provides the output buffer connected to the output of the wavelength router for being shared by optical packets in all wavelengths (channels), thereby avoiding the packet loss due to output conflicts and reducing the cost of establishing the buffer.
