Yarn energy harvesters containing conducing nanomaterials (such as carbon nanotube (CNT) yarn harvesters) that electrochemically convert tensile or torsional mechanical energy into electrical energy. Stretched coiled yarns can generate 250 W/kg of peak electrical power when cycled up to 24 Hz, and can generate up to 41.2 J/kg of electrical energy per mechanical cycle. Unlike for other harvesters, torsional rotation produces both tensile and torsional energy harvesting and no bias voltage is required, even when electrochemically operating in salt water. Since homochiral and heterochiral coiled harvester yarns provide oppositely directed potential changes when stretched, both contribute to output power in a dual-electrode yarn. These energy harvesters were used in the ocean to harvest wave energy, combined with thermally-driven artificial muscles to convert temperature fluctuations to electrical energy, sewn into textiles for use as self-powered respiration sensors, and used to power a light emitting diode and to charge a storage capacitor.

Coiled and twisted nanofiber yarns for electrochemically harvesting electrical energy from mechanical deformation

The present invention relates to a graphene conjugate fiber and a method for manufacturing same, and more particularly, to a conjugate fiber including graphene and a polymer, wherein a wrinkled structure of the graphene is maintained in a fiber state. The graphene conjugate fiber manufactured thereby has superior mechanical properties, is flexible, and has high utility by being manufactured as a fiber.

Method for manufacturing graphene fiber

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a graphene fiber and a graphene fiber manufactured thereby, comprising the following steps: a) preparing a dispersion liquid by dispersing graphene with a surfactant in a solvent; b) preparing a composite fiber by mixing the dispersion liquid with a polymer solution, wet spinning and drying same; and c) removing polymers by heat-treating or treating the composite fiber with strong acid. The graphene fiber manufactured by the method has superior electric and mechanical properties, is flexible, and can be utilized as a storage medium for energy, hydrogen, etc. due to porosity from having a wrinkled structure.

Disclosed is a free-standing hybrid nanomembrane capable of energy storage. The free-standing hybrid nanomembrane includes carbon nanotube sheets and a conducting polymer coated on the carbon nanotube sheets. The carbon nanotube sheets are densified sheets formed by evaporating an alcohol from carbon nanotube aerogel sheets. The conducting polymer is coated on the carbon nanotube sheets by vapor phase polymerization. Further disclosed is a method for fabricating the free-standing hybrid nanomembrane.

Free-standing hybrid nanomembrane as energy storage electrode and the fabrication method thereof

The present invention relates to a yarn-type micro-supercapacitor fabricated by twisting a hybrid nanomembrane coated with a conducting polymer on a carbon nanotube sheet. Thus, the yarn-type micro-supercapacitor has superior performance. Particularly, since a 2-ply electrode manufactured by being twisted together with a metal wire has very high power and energy density in liquid or solid electrolyte and also has superior mechanical strength and flexibility, the yarn-type micro-supercapacitor may be variously deformed&#x2014;for example, bent, twisted, or woven&#x2014;to maintain superior electrochemical performance.

The present invention relates to a graphene-based hybrid polymer composite fiber and a method for manufacturing same, and more particularly, to a hybrid composite fiber including the graphene, a carbon nanotube, and a polymer, wherein the graphene and the carbon nanotube are combined by means of self-organization through hydrogen bonding, so as to be very tough and flexible, without involving stretching, and to a method for manufacturing the hybrid composite fiber.
