A rechargeable battery module may include: a plurality of unit cells arranged in a first direction and electrically coupled via a bus bar, including a pair of outermost unit cells at opposite ends of the first direction; an end plate supporting the outermost unit cells; side plates at opposite ends of a second direction to support side surfaces of the unit cells; a support member supporting the unit cells at a lower end of a third direction; and welding bushes extended in the third direction at opposite ends of the end plate in the second direction and opposite ends of the side plates in the first direction. Each welding bush may include a cylinder member to which the end plate and one of the side plates are welded, and a cap member combined with at least one of opposite ends of the cylinder member.

A battery module includes a plurality of battery cells arranged in a same direction and a same orientation; and a housing portion disposed on the outer surfaces of the plurality of battery cells. In the battery module, the housing portion includes a reinforcing plate positioned between at least two of the battery cells. The reinforcing plate is part of the housing portion, and strengthens the housing portion, thereby enabling a lighter weight battery module and improving the safety of the battery module.

A rechargeable battery module includes unit cells that are arranged in a first direction, a bus bar that electrically connects the unit cells, a pair of end plates that are spaced apart from each other along the first direction at opposite ends of the unit cells to support the unit cells, and at least one side plate between the pair of end plates and connected to the pair of end plates, the at least one side plate extending along the unit cells and spaced apart from the unit cells a predetermined distance, wherein the side plate includes a stepped portion facing the unit cells.

Rechargeable battery module

A rechargeable battery module is disclosed. In one aspect, the battery module includes a plurality of unit cells including first and second outermost unit cells disposed at first and second opposing ends of the unit cells arranged in a first direction, wherein the unit cells have top and bottom surfaces opposing each other. The battery module also includes a bus bar holder covering the top surface of the unit cells, a bus bar disposed at the bus bar holder to electrically connect the unit cells and a pair of end plates respectively supporting the first and second outermost unit cells. The battery module further includes a pair of side plates disposed at third and fourth opposing ends of the unit cells arranged in a second direction crossing the first direction, wherein the side plates are connected to the end plates and the bus bar holder.

A battery module includes a plurality of battery cells, a busbar holder on the battery cells, the busbar holder having a plurality of busbars coupling neighboring battery cells of the plurality of battery cells to each other, and a circuit board on the busbar holder and defining a plurality of fastening openings along its perimeter. The circuit board is coupled to the busbar holder with a plurality of fastening members coupled to first fastening openings defined on the busbar holder. The circuit board has a component for controlling and monitoring recharging and discharging of the battery cells coupled to the circuit board.

A holder is on the first surfaces of the battery cells and has a groove. A frame surrounds side surfaces adjacent to the first surfaces of the battery cells and includes a first bent portion that is at least partially inserted into the groove.

The first battery module may be stacked on the second battery module, the second plate of the first battery module may be between the first battery module and the second battery module, and the second plate of the first battery module may support the unit batteries of the first battery module and contact the first plate of the second battery module.
