A method for manufacturing a mold of a light guide plate is disclosed. The method includes following steps: providing a substrate and forming a plurality of microstructures on the substrate; depositing a first metal layer upon the substrate; spreading a photoresist layer on the first metal layer, exposing the photoresist layer to a photomask, and developing a photoresist pattern; removing a part of the first metal layer without cover of the photoresist pattern so as to form a sink pattern; depositing a second metal layer upon the sink pattern; electroforming a metal plate on the second metal layer; and remaining the metal plate and the second metal layer by separating the metal plate from the photoresist layer, the first metal layer, and the substrate so as to generate the mold of the light guide plate.

Method for manufacturing a mold of a light guide plate

A backlight module includes a light guide plate which has a first sidewall and two opposite second sidewalls extending transversely of the first sidewalls. The first and second sidewalls interconnect two opposite first and second faces. Alight source is disposed at one of the second sidewalls and projects light rays onto the first sidewall at an oblique angle. A first reflection layer is disposed over the first sidewall, and a second reflection layer is disposed over the second face. Total reflection of light into the light guide plate from the first sidewall and second face increases brightness and enhances evenness of brightness.

Backlight module

In a backlight system of a liquid crystal display, a light guide plate includes a plurality of reflector units. The light guide plate is in wedge or flat shape, which has a front surface, a back surface, and four side surfaces. The plurality of reflector units are integrally formed with the back surface of the light guide plate, each of which is designed as an annular protrusion. Through one of the four side surfaces, a light beam irradiated by a lamp propagates into the light guide plate. Regardless of the propagating direction, part of the light beam is reflected by the reflector unit into two reflective light beams that are then refracted out of the front surface of the light guide plate. Therefore, the light guide plate according to the present invention achieves an excellent reflective efficiency.
