An aspect of the disclosure relates to a radio frequency (RF) power amplifier, including a set of transistors, and a transformer including a set of primary windings and a secondary winding, wherein the set of primary windings are coupled in series with the set of transistors between a first voltage rail and a second voltage rail, wherein the set of transistors includes respective control terminals configured to receive an input RF signal, and wherein an output RF signal is produced across a load coupled in parallel with the secondary winding. In another implementation, the primary windings are primary winding portions or turns.

Aspects of the present disclosure are generally directed to techniques and apparatus for estimating a gain of a VCO in a PLL. In certain aspects, the technique includes calculating a C-V characteristic of a varactor matched to another varactor in the VCO. The technique also includes estimating the gain of the VCO based on the C-V characteristic of the varactor, a tank inductance of the VCO, and an output frequency of the VCO. Aspects of the present disclosure allow for estimating the gain of the VCO while the PLL remains in operation.

A balun is disclosed that includes a main tank circuit, and at least one auxiliary tank circuit. The main tank circuit includes a primary winding and a secondary winding. The auxiliary tank circuit, which includes an auxiliary winding magnetically coupled to the primary and secondary windings and terminated in a capacitor, is electrically isolated from the main tank circuit and from an output port of the balun. The frequency responses of the main tank circuit and the auxiliary tank circuit may combine to result in a composite frequency response that is wider than the frequency response of the main tank circuit. The auxiliary tank circuit may be formed within an interior area of the primary and secondary windings of the main tank circuit.

Methods and systems for processing a signal with a corresponding noise profile are disclosed. Aspects of the method may comprise analyzing spectral content of the noise profile. At least one noise harmonic within the signal may be filtered based on said analyzed spectral content. The filtered signal may be amplified. The noise profile may comprise a phase noise profile. The signal may comprise at least one of a sinusoidal signal and a noise signal. At least one filter coefficient that is used to filter the at least one noise harmonic may be determined. The filtering may comprise low pass filtering. The signal may be modulated prior to filtering. The amplifying may comprise buffering. A non-linearity characteristic of the signal may be determined and a noise harmonic may be low-pass filtered within the signal based on the determined non-linearity characteristic.

System and method for signal amplification

A smart lock that can be built into or mounted onto a trash container with a lid and a can consists of two interlocking parts. The smart lock contains a primary lock operably connected to a secondary lock. The primary lock can be opened in presence of the trash collection vehicle or by a command from the owner. The secondary lock can be opened by the same conditions or when it senses mechanical and gravitational movement characteristics of the collection process, only when the first lock is open. Each lock comprises a timer and electronic circuitry that detects authorized commands and opens the lock.

At least one filter coefficient that is used to filter the at least one noise harmonic may be determined. The filtering may include low pass filtering. The limiting may include hard-limiting of the filtered signal. A phase difference between the limited signal and a reference signal may be detected.

An exemplary embodiment of the present invention described and shown in the specification and drawings is a transceiver with a receiver, a transmitter, a local oscillator (LO) generator, a controller, and a self-testing unit. All of these components can be packaged for integration into a single IC including components such as filters and inductors. In one embodiment, a method may include one or more of the following: generating a signal at a particular frequency in which the signal may be associated with a harmonic frequency signal disposed at a harmonic frequency; and selectively attenuating frequency content disposed in a region around the harmonic frequency. The signal may be associated with a second harmonic frequency signal disposed at a second harmonic frequency. Frequency content disposed in a second region around the second harmonic frequency may be selectively attenuated. One or more non-linear operations may be applied to the signal and the applied signal may be transmitted.
