A method of locating content portion(s) of an image includes automatically determining a pixel threshold value; comparing the threshold value to the image to determine background and content sets of the pixels; determining boundaries between the background and content sets; determining the content portions using the determined boundaries; and determining bounding boxes for the content portions. A computed-radiography scanner includes an imager; a transport configured to operatively arrange a plurality of plates with respect to the imager so that a single image of the plates can be captured; and a processor configured to automatically locate the content portion(s) in the single image. A locating method includes automatically determining the pixel threshold value; determining the boundaries between portions delimited by the pixel threshold value; determining the content portions using the boundaries; and determining the bounding boxes.

Method and system for processing scanned images

A measurement system includes a receiver configured to receive a measurement signal indicative of a parameter of a measured object. The measurement system also includes a processor configured to iteratively filter the measurement signal using a threshold value. The processor is also configured to adjust the threshold value for each iteration of filtration and determine a signal-to-noise ratio for each iteration of filtration. The processor is also configured to set a filter threshold value to the threshold value for the iteration based on the signal-to-noise ratio.

Aspects of the invention provide a solution for analyzing an object, such as a part of a turbo machine. A planar surface is generated using a curved reformat function based on a surface of a three-dimensional (3D) image of an object. A peel of the 3D image that is adjacent to the surface is determined. Based on the peel, a second planar surface is generated. These two, and/or other similarly generated planar surfaces can be analyzed to determine characteristics of the original object.

Method system and computer product for non-destructive object analysis

Embodiments of the invention include an inspection system to inspect internal components of a compressor of a gas turbine engine. The inspection system includes an image recording assembly having one or more image recording devices, light sources, storage devices, and power supplies. The image recording assembly may be inserted into a compressor without removal of the compressor housing or disassembly of the compressor. The image recording assembly may be removably coupled to a rotary component of the compressor, e.g., a rotor blade, and used to record images of stationary components, e.g., stator vanes, of the compressor. The images may be inspected to identify wear and/or defects in the stationary components, e.g., stator vanes.

A method for monitoring stress on a wind turbine blade during loading is disclosed. The method includes capturing multiple images at respective locations of the blade. The method also includes measuring temperature at the respective locations based upon captured images. The method further includes calculating stress applied on the blade at the respective locations based upon the measured temperature. The method also includes calculating stress applied on the blade at the respective locations based upon the measured temperature. The method further includes comparing the calculated stress with respective theoretical stress in a finite element model to predict lifetime of the blade. The method also includes alerting an operator in event that the calculated stress at one or more of the respective locations is above a pre-determined limit.

System and method for determining lifetime of wind turbine blade

A gear inspection system and method for a gearbox, wherein an image acquisition unit is oriented proximate the gearbox with a field of view of a section of the gears. The image acquisition unit obtains images of a gear tooth and corresponding contact pattern. In one embodiment a processing unit transforms the images to a gear tooth model so that the gear tooth image and contact pattern image matches the model gear tooth. Metrics are computed for the contact pattern, and based on threshold values, a determination is made as to whether the gearbox is acceptable.

A method of computing gear modifications from a gear inspection chart is provided. The method includes extracting a gear profile from the gear inspection chart. The method also includes quantifying the gear profile. The method also includes determining a gear modification based on a quantified gear profile. The method also includes qualifying a gear based on the gear modification.
