Disclosed herein are dual cure coating compositions that include a melamine group-containing polyethylenically unsaturated compound and a polysiloxane. Also disclosed are related multi-component composite coatings, coated substrates, and methods for coating a substrate.

Additives comprising dispersed silica nanoparticles are disclosed. The silica nanoparticles are dispersed in an aminoplast, such as a modified aminoplast formed from the reaction between an aminoplast, a modifying component, and optionally a siloxane. The resulting additives can be added to coating compositions to provide improved mar and/or scratch resistance.

Additionally provided is a multilayer composite coating composition including a base coat deposited from a film-forming composition and a top coat over the base coat deposited from the previously described powder coating composition.
