Method for producing flexographic printing plates from a photopolymerizable flexographic printing plate with a dimensionally stable support, photopolymerizable, relief-forming layer(s), and a digitally imagable layer. The method comprises (a) producing a mask by imaging the digitally imagable layer, (b) exposing the flexographic printing plate with a plurality of UV-LEDs on a UV-LED strip through the mask with actinic light, and photopolymerizing the image regions of the layer, and (c) developing the photopolymerized layer. In the UV-LED strip or in a separate strip, at least one ultrasonic sensor is arranged for determining the thickness of the flexographic printing plate for exposure. Depending on the measured thickness of the flexographic printing plate, the exposing of the flexographic printing plate is controlled in respect of: (i) number of exposure steps, exposure intensity, energy input per exposure step, duration of the individual exposure steps, and/or overall duration of exposure.

Multi-functional carbamate having soft-segments, polyisocyanate obtained via subsequent non-phosgene synthesis methods, urethane prepolymer and elastomeric urethane having soft-segments derived therefrom, and preparation method thereof

The present invention is directed to a process for preparing amides or polyamides by replacing isocyanate starting materials of a catalyzed thermal reaction with aromatic carbamates. Through the catalyzed thermal process involving a non-isocyanate precursor of the present invention, efficiency for producing amides or polyamides can be significantly improved, and the impure side products produced from a side reaction of isocyanate can be greatly curtailed. Hence, amides or polyamides of high purity and yield can be achieved. The invention also relates to a process for preparing aromatic carbamates, the new non-isocyanate precursors for amides or polyamides.

The present invention provides a biocompatible and biodegradable elastomer, comprising a hard segment and a soft segment. The hard segment is formed by reacting diisocyanate and a chain extender; and the soft segment is comprising a biodegradable oligomer diol, wherein the biodegradable oligomer diol is selected from the group consisting of polycaprolactone diol, polyethylene butylene adipate diol (PEBA diol), poly-L-lactic acid diol (PLLA diol), polylactic acid diol and any combination thereof. The biocompatible and biodegradable elastomer of present invention can be used to produce vascular graft, cell carrier, drug carrier or gene carrier.

The present invention relates to using a two-step (thermolysis) or one-pot process to prepare aliphatic diisocyanates from aliphatic diamines and diaryl carbonates. Polyisocyanates can also be prepared from polyamines and diaryl carbonates. The present synthetic processes do not apply phosgene or highly toxic reagents and chloro-solvents during the entire procedure.

Two-step and one-pot processes for preparation of aliphatic diisocyanates

A preparation of aryl carbamates can be achieved readily by carbonylation of an aromatic polyamine compound with diphenyl carbonate (DPC) using a combination of an organic acid and a tertiary amine as a catalyst. Aryl carbamate can be converted into 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) by heating it at about 200 to about 230&#xb0; C. in a non-polar solvent containing inhibitor such as benzoyl chloride. In another application, trans-ureation of biscarbamates with an amine or mixed amines is found to be extremely facile in a polar solvent such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and tetramethylene sulfone (TMS) in absence of any catalyst to make polyurea polymers of high molecular weights. Thus, efficient green-chemistry processes based on biscarbamates in making isocyanate products as well as urea prepolymers, urea elastomers and urea plastics have been developed in all in excellent yields without using reactive phosgene or 4,4&#x2032;-diphenylmethane diisocyanate separately in the trans-ureation polymerizations.

The present invention relates to a waterborne polyurethane containing biodegradable segments and the process for synthesizing the same. The waterborne polyurethane according to the present invention has excellent biodegradable, biocompatible and mechanical characteristics and thus is a useful biomedical material, in particular for making films for medical applications.

The present invention relates to a one-pot synthetic method for synthesizing silver-containing waterborne polyurethane (WBPU). The method includes the steps of adding a silver ion-containing solution, such as silver nitrate solution, into WBPU emulsion to form a silver-containing PU emulsion by stirring, and dehydrating the silver-containing PU emulsion so as to obtain a WBPU containing nano-scaled silver particles having a uniform particle size and good dispersibility. The present invention provides a method that can be easily and speedily operated, and the silver-containing WBPU prepared according to the method of the present invention exhibits excellent antibacterial, bactericidal and deodorant effects but using a small amount of silver.

One-pot synthetic method for synthesizing silver-containing waterborne polyurethane

An organic polyurethane shape memory material includes a C10 chain or C18 chain and consists of hard segment and soft segment. The material is produced by reacting the single-chain type dendrimer with diethylenetriamine to produce dendrimer. Then dendrimer reacts with N-(3-aminopropyl)diethanolamine to produce dendritic diols. Next, polymer HO(CHO)xCHOCH(CHO)OH, where x+y=25&#x2dc;26, reacts with methylenedi-p-phenyl diisocyanate, and at least one type of dendritic diols is added to produce the organic polyurethane shape memory material.

Organic polyurethane shape memory material and a preparation method thereof

This invention provides one-pot reaction for digesting polycarbonate waste with alkylene glycol in the presence of a basic catalyst at 180&#xb0; C. under normal atmospheric pressure. The digested product mixture was found to consist of bisphenol A (BPA) and monoalkoxylated and bisalkoxylated diols of BPA. Alkoxylation of BPA and monoalkoxylated diols of BPA is performed by adding urea or urea derivative (or carbonic acid ester or amine ester) to the digested product mixture at a high temperature under normal atmospheric pressure to obtain the final product, i.e., bisalkoxylated diols of BPA in high yield. The bisalkoxylated diols of BPA may be used as raw materials to synthesize polymer such as polyurethane (PU) or polyester.
