A pivotal hinge has a seat and a shaft, and a first end of the shaft is inserted into the seat. A second end of the shaft is inserted into multiple washers, a first and a second positioning ring, multiple elastic rings and a cushion ring in turn. The first positioning ring can be positioned relative to the second positioning ring and with the friction force of the washers, the excellent position effect can be achieved. Hence, a cover of a laptop computer can be positioned to the chassis of the laptop computer at a desired height.

Pivotal hinge

A hinge includes a first sleeve and a second sleeve pivotally engaged with the first sleeve. The first sleeve has an arcuate step formed on an outer surface thereof, a neck extending from an outer surface of the arcuate step, at least one indentation formed on the arcuate step and a first upright wall formed on an end of the indentation. The second sleeve has at least one projection formed on an inner surface thereof to correspond to and be selectively received in the at least one indentation of the first sleeve so as to provide a positioning effect to the second sleeve when the at least one projection is received in the at least one indentation and a second upright wall formed on an end of the projection of the second sleeve to correspond to the first upright wall such that the first upright wall abutting the second upright wall is able to prevent excessive pivotal movement of the second sleeve relative to the first sleeve.

Hinge assembly having limiting and positioning abilities

A hinge for a portable computer having a monitor with a pivotal end and a main frame with a pivotal end has a sleeve, a washer and a pivotal rod. The sleeve is mounted in the pivotal end of the main frame and has multiple cutouts. The cutouts are formed in the sleeve. The washer has two extensions. The extensions are formed on the washer and selectively engage the cutouts of the sleeve. The pivotal rod is mounted rotatably in the sleeve, is mounted securely in the washer and holds the washer between the pivotal rod and the sleeve. When the monitor pivots to open relative to the main frame of the portable computer, the extensions of the washer engage the cutouts of the sleeve to hold the monitor at a desired visual angle.

Hinge

A rotatable hinge includes a fixed frame provided to be adapted for engagement with a laptop computer base and a rotatable portion rotatable relative to the fixed frame and provided to be adapted for engagement with a laptop computer screen. The fixed frame is composed of a circular wall and a connection base integrally formed with the circular wall. The rotation portion has an extension extending from a bottom of the sleeve to be received in a through hole defined in the circular wall so that the rotation portion is able to be rotatable relative to the fixed portion. The extension has a flange formed thereon and a sectorial block formed on an outer periphery of the flange. The circular wall has a limiting boss formed on a peripheral edge thereof to be selectively connected to the sectorial block so as to limit the rotational movement of the rotation portion relative to the fixed frame.

Positioning structure for a rotatable hinge

A hinge includes a shank, a rotation bracket adapted to securely connect to a display of a laptop computer, a fixed bracket adapted to securely connect to a base of the laptop computer and at least one friction bracket securely connected to the fixed bracket and having friction pads provided on opposite sides of the at least one friction bracket. Each of the friction pads has an aperture so defined that after the threaded portion of the shank extends through the apertures of the friction pads, the friction pads pivot together with the shank to generate holding force with the fixed bracket for holding the display in position.

Friction enhanced hinge to provide positioning force to hold a display at a position as required

A hinge has a first bracket, a pivot pin, a second bracket and two torsion spring assemblies. The first bracket has a support and two holders. The pivot pin is mounted rotatably through the support and the holders on the base of the first bracket. The second bracket is mounted to the pivot pin. The torsion spring assemblies are mounted on the pivot pin and correspond respectively to the holders on the first bracket. Each torsion spring assembly has a disk and a torsion spring. The disk is mounted securely to the pivot pin and has a spring hook. The torsion spring is mounted around the pivot pin and has two ends. One end is mounted securely on the corresponding holder, and the other end is engaged detachably with the spring hook on the disk. The torsion springs provide a recovering force to keep the pivot pin from pivoting inadvertently.

Hinge with multiple torsion springs

A hinge with a limitation function has a shaft, which is mounted with a stationary seat, a male segment, a resilient member, a washer and a rotatable seat, and engages a nut to fasten the above elements. When the movable display panel rotates in relative to the main unit, the movable display panel rotates the rotatable seat, and the rotatable seat further rotates the shaft. The male segment also rotates in relative to the female segment; meanwhile, the head is rotate along the fastening portion. When the lugs are engaged in the notches respectively, the display panel is positioned at a certain position, the plane face is against the fastening portion so that the shaft cannot rotate continuously to the same direction.

Hinge with a limitation function

A hinge has a positioning bracket, a rotating bracket, a pivotal pin, a washer, a mounting ring and two resilient sleeves. The positioning bracket has a sleeve. The sleeve has a through hole and an elongating groove. The rotating bracket has a connecting segment. The pivotal pin is attached to the rotating bracket and has a mounting shaft, a connecting shaft and a head. The washer and the mounting ring are mounted around the connecting shaft of the pivotal pin. The resilient sleeves are mounted around the connecting shaft, are mounted in the through hole of the sleeve and each resilient sleeve has a sleeve segment and a mounting slice. The sleeve segment has a through hole and a gap. The mounting slice is formed on the sleeve segment near the gap and is inserted into the elongating groove.

A hinge of a LCD has a stationary bracket, a first shaft assembly and a second shaft assembly. The LCD had a base and a screen. The stationary bracket is attached to the base. Each shaft assembly is mounted pivotally on the stationary bracket and has an adapting bracket to be attached to the screen. The first shaft assembly has a stationary limiting element, a switching element and a rotating limiting element. The stationary limiting element has a limiting recess with two ends and a narrower stop formed in the limiting recess. The rotating limiting element is pushed by the switching element and has two stops. Pushing the switching element to change the stops of the rotating limiting element respectively corresponding to the narrower stop or the ends of the limiting recess to adjust the limitation of the rotating angle of the screen.

Hinge for a liquid crystal display

A swivel hinge has a base plate, a first loop, a first rotating board, a second loop, a mounting member, a second rotating board, a pivot member, a third loop, a third rotating board, and a locking ring. When the display panel rotates relative to the main board in a same plane, the third rotating board will not rotate, only the first and second rotating boards rotate relative to the base plate and provide an anchor and limitation function. When a direction of a camera on the display is to be adjusted, the third rotating board rotates with the second rotating board, thus the camera can rotate according to the shooting angle.

Swivel hinge

A multi-stage hinge assembly has a first connecting board, a second connecting board, a first hinge, a second hinge, an inner mounting lever and an outer mounting lever. The first connecting board has a first ring, a second ring and a recess. The second connecting board has a first ring and a second ring. The first hinge is mounted on the connecting boards. The second hinge is mounted on the connecting boards. The inner mounting lever is mounted pivotally on the second mounting bracket of the first hinge and the rotating head of the second hinge and has two retaining plates, a holding frame and a spring. The outer mounting lever is mounted pivotally on the second mounting bracket of the first hinge and the rotating head of the second hinge.

Multi-stage hinge assembly

A hinge for a portable device has a body, a spring, a slide and a shaft. The body has a cavity and multiple retaining tabs. The spring is mounted in the cavity in the body. The slide is mounted slidably in the cavity in the body, abuts the spring and has a positioning element. The shaft is mounted to the body, rotatably engages the slide and has a positioning element and an annular groove. The positioning element on the shaft rotatably engages the positioning element on the slide. The annular groove rotatably engages the retaining tabs on the body. The shaft is mounted to the body without additional fasteners such as C-shaped clasps so the hinge has a simple structure and a low cost.

Hinge for a portable device

The hinge with orthogonal pivot axes can be used with a cellular phone having a cover and a base and has a tilt hinge, an offset hinge and a turning hinge. The tilt, offset and turning hinges respectively comprise a rotating positioning element and a stationary positioning element. The rotating positioning elements of the tilt and offset hinges have protrusions corresponding to and simultaneously engaging detents in the stationary positioning element when the tilt and offset hinges are closed and opened. The rotating positioning element of the turning hinge has protruding limits formed on the rotating positioning element selectively abutting the positive stop on the stationary positioning element of the turning hinge when the turning hinge is rotated.

Hinge with orthogonal pivot axes

A pivot device has a pivot axle fastened on a cover of a lap top computer, a seat fastened on a chassis of the computer, and a first ring and a second ring respectively mounted around the pivot axle. The second ring and an elastic device are respectively mounted on the seat, and the second ring has two cutouts. Two lugs are respectively defined on the first ring and correspond to the cutouts. A nub is formed on an outer circumference of the first ring so that the nub presses against the elastic device. Hence, the cutouts are mated with the lugs by pushing so that the cover can be raised or lowered to the chassis and can be controlled to prevent colliding with the chassis.

Pivot device

A robust hinge has a redundant positioning capability, is mounted between a cover and a base and has a keyed pivot pin, a rotating leaf, a stationary leaf and a spacer assembly. The rotating leaf is attached to the keyed pivot pin and connects to the cover. The stationary leaf is mounted around the keyed pivot pin, connects to the base and has a primary stationary positioning element. The spacer assembly is mounted around the keyed pivot pin and has primary and secondary rotating positioning elements and a secondary stationary positioning element. Each stationary positioning element has a detent. Each rotating positioning element has a protrusion corresponding to the detent. The protrusions engage the detents to provide the redundant positioning capability to keep the cover form hitting the base. Two pairs of protrusions and detents provide the redundant positioning capability.
