Systems and methods for predicting that a stock keeping unit (SKU) is likely to be scrapped and performing preventative actions accordingly. The system receives a request to initiate a process related to predicting scrap likelihood associated with a plurality of SKUs, inputs data associated with each SKU into a trained prediction model, outputs, from the trained prediction model, a prediction value for each SKU, measures the trained prediction model by calculating a set of values, and generates a matrix comprising the calculated set of values. Using the matrix, a threshold prediction value is determined, and each SKU prediction value is compared to the threshold prediction value. Based on the comparison, a SKU of the plurality of SKUs is predicted as likely to be scrapped and at least one of a plurality of preventative actions is performed.

Computerized systems and methods for predicting and managing scrap

Disclosed is a method of determining efficacy of a cosmetic composition to inhibit an atmospheric pollutant from contacting skin, comprising the steps of: (i) filling a sample holder of known dimensions with known amount of said composition to form a layer of defined thickness therein, where said sample holder is amenable to fluorescence-based assay; (ii) depositing, on said layer, a known amount of a model fine particulate matter which resembles an atmospheric pollutant at least in size and which comprises a material responsive to fluorescence microscopy which is excitable by a wavelength (&#x3bb;) and which emits radiation (&#x3bb;) where (&#x3bb;)&#x2260;(&#x3bb;); (iii) irradiating said composition and said model fine particulate matter by said &#x3bb;and recording intensity of fluorescence at &#x3bb;a plurality of times for a defined period during which said model fine particulate matter interacts with said layer; and, (iv) determining, corrected intensity of fluorescence at &#x3bb;by the following equation; corrected Intensity=recorded intensity/average transmittance where said average transmittance is the average of the transmittance of the composition measured at &#x3bb;and &#x3bb;determined by Beer-Lambert law by measuring the absorbance at &#x3bb;and &#x3bb;, where the corrected intensity is inversely proportional to said efficacy of said composition.

Evaluating the efficacy of leave-on cosmetic compositions to protect skin from pollutants

Disclosed is a cosmetic composition comprising (i) 1 to 30 wt % of a non-hydrocarbon emollient; and (ii) 2 to 60 wt % of a blend of silicone elastomer gel of the Formula (I) and solvent; wherein the solvent for the silicone elastomer gel is selected from cyclic or linear polydimethylsiloxanes; wherein the w/w ratio of the amount of the non-hydrocarbon emollient to the combined amounts of the silicone elastomer gel and said solvent is from 1:50 to 1:1 and where the amount of the non-hydrocarbon emollient is less than the amount of the silicone elastomer gel; and wherein the composition comprises less than 2 wt % capric caprylic triglycerides and less than 5 wt % crosslinked elastomeric silicone polyether, wherein said non-hydrocarbon emollient is an alkenyl or alkyl ester of a C10-20 fatty acid, an ether-ester, a polyhydric alcohol ester, a wax ester, a mono-, di- or triglyceride, a sterol ester, a fatty alcohol, a fatty acid, lanolin or its derivative, wax ester, a phospholipid, beeswax or a sterol.

Cosmetic compositions comprising silicone elastomer and emollient

A personal care composition is disclosed comprising a blend of silicone elastomer and solvent and a cosmetically acceptable carrier, wherein the solvent is a volatile silicone oil selected from octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane, blends of methyl trimethicone and dimethicone and mixtures thereof and wherein the silicone elastomer has the chemical structure of formula I. The composition may additionally optionally comprise an organic sunscreen. A method for providing skin care benefit, in particular photoprotection, comprises topically applying the composition to the skin.

Personal care composition

A personal care composition is disclosed comprising from 1 to 90% by weight of a hydrocarbon oil of an average carbon chain length with 8 or higher carbon atoms; a blend of silicone elastomer and solvent; and a cosmetically acceptable carrier; wherein the solvent is a volatile silicone oil selected from octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane, blends of methyl trimethicone and dimethicone and mixtures thereof; and wherein the silicone elastomer has the chemical structure of formula I.

Compositions for coloring skin are described. The compositions comprise beads that comprise petrolatum and optionally a colorant and the beads have a diameter from about 90 to about 625 microns. When applied topically, the compositions unexpectedly yield long lasting color.
