A scalable cloud infrastructure serves two or more customers, where each customer is associated with at least one unit of virtual resources. The virtual resources are established by apportioning physical resources in the cloud infrastructure that are partitioned into pods within one or more zones in a scalable manner. Additionally, the cloud infrastructure establishes one or more management server clusters each comprising one or more management servers. The two or more customers create a number of virtual machines within pods in a zone. Due to the scalability of the cloud infrastructure, a console proxy virtual machine and server is introduced to support console access to virtual machines. The console proxy server serves as an intermediary between a browser and a viewed virtual machine configured to maintain viewing session quality while minimizing network impact.

Remote console access in a scalable cloud computing environment

An efficient method for parsing HTML pages identifies pages containing a mix of static and dynamic content. The pages are parsed to form abstract syntax trees (ASTs), which are then cached along with the pages. When a later version of a page is retrieved, it is compared against the cached version, and only those portions of the AST that contain different content are reparsed.

A content descriptor is received at a download server on a network from a remote content server, which is coupled to the download server through a computer network. The content descriptor is indicative of a selection by a user transmitted from a wireless client device to the remote content server and relating to a digital product hosted by the remote content server. The digital product is then downloaded from the download server to the wireless client device via a wireless network. A network server system includes a download manager that manages the publication, purchase and delivery of digital content from multiple content suppliers to wireless services subscribers in multiple domains. Each domain is defined as a different grouping of subscribers, such as a wireless carrier or subsidiary thereof, a business enterprise, or other defined group of subscribers. The download manager maintains data defining the multiple domains and associations between the domains and wireless services subscribers. Techniques for developing and exchanging virtual machine implementations and/or support library implementations are described. In one embodiment, the virtual machine design specifies a set of functions for executing all or substantially all support library operations that are dependent on the implementation of the virtual machine. When a developer desires to substitute one virtual machine implementation for another, the developer is able to basically 'plug-in' the second virtual machine implementation with minimal impact on the support libraries since both virtual machine implementations provide implementations for the set of specified functions that are dependent on the implementation of the respective virtual machine. Conversely, different support libraries may be utilized in conjunction with a particular virtual machine implementation.

Type safe linkage is ensured by establishing a constraint if a class references an attribute that is contained in another class. This constraint acts as a 'promise' to later ensure type safe linkage. At some point later&#x2014;such as at the earliest time that the type is loaded by both loaders&#x2014;the constraint is verified. This may be accomplished by verifying that the type for the attribute is the same regardless of whether it is loaded by a loader that defines the referencing class or a loader that defines the referred class. If the constraint is not met, an error message is provided.
