In some embodiments, a nonwoven fabric includes a first web that is at least partially formed of extruded strands which include an auto-adhesive material. The nonwoven fabric is adapted to be bonded to another item that includes a similar auto-adhesive material. In other embodiments, a method of forming a nonwoven fabric includes extruding a plurality of strands that are formed of an auto-adhesive material. The method further includes routing the plurality of strands toward a moving support, depositing the plurality of strands onto the moving support, and then stabilizing the plurality of strands to form a web. In other embodiments, a fastening system includes a nonwoven fabric that has a web which is formed of a plurality of extruded strands that include an auto-adhesive material. The fastening system further includes a foam layer that has a surface with a plurality of free-standing struts that include a similar auto-adhesive material.

An absorbent composition includes absorbent material, such as superabsorbent material, surface-treated with at least two different compatible agents. The superabsorbent material may be coated with multiple surface treatment agents in such a manner that each of the surface treatment agents is exposed on a surface of the superabsorbent material. For example, one surface treatment agent may be in a liquid coating form and another surface treatment agent may be in a powder form, each applied separately to the superabsorbent material.

A warming dispenser includes a housing having a compartment. The compartment holds a plurality of sheets. A heating device is located adjacent the plurality of sheets. A micro power source is connected to the heating device to generate energy from a fuel source, wherein the heating device uses the energy to warm at least one of the sheets. The micropower source may be, for example, a micro fuel cell adapted to deliver electricity for resistive heating.

A package for consumable products is disclosed. The package includes a plurality of subpackages connected together by a connecting member. For instance, the package may contain two subpackages or alternatively four subpackages all connected at one end to a connecting member. The package is particularly well suited to holding relatively large quantities of the consumable product. Because the subpackages are connected at one end, the package may be draped over an adjacent structure, such as a shopping cart. In this way, the package can be placed in a shopping cart without taking up an excessive amount of space.

In one embodiment of the present invention, an article has a mechanical fastener and configured is to be worn by a user. The article comprises a body portion configured to be worn by a user. The body portion may include a fibrous landing layer wherein the fibrous landing layer comprises a plurality of fibers. The body portion may also include a foam layer, such that the foam layer has a first surface comprising a plurality of free-stranding struts adapted for engaging at least a portion of the plurality of fibers of the landing layer. The foam layer and fibrous landing layer are capable of being engaged with a Shear Resistance of about 100 grams of force or greater per square centimeter and a Peel Resistance of about 50 grams or less of force per square centimeter.

A method of forming twisted, curly fibers from a wet wood pulp without the aid of a wet fluffing process or a chemical cross-linker. The method includes forming the wet wood pulp into fiber bundles and subsequently thermally drying the fiber bundles. The invention also includes curly fibers derived from the method of the invention.

This invention concerns coatings having high surface area materials and at least one metal ion adsorbed onto the high surface area material as well as substrates having the coating and methods of applying the coating. The substrates may be films, woven fabrics or may be nonwoven fabrics. The coatings have good odor and/or gas absorbing capabilities. Nonwoven fabrics include tissues, towels, coform materials, bonded carded webs, spunbond fabrics and so forth. The substrates may be made into storage and packaging material to reduce odor and retard the ripening of fruit. The substrates may be used in personal care products, to produce clothing for military and civilian applications and many other applications.

Durable charged particle coatings and materials

Pulp fibers can be treated with water insoluble chemical additives resulting in a minimal amount of unretained water insoluble chemical additives present after redispersing the treated pulp fibers in the process water. One embodiment of the present invention is a method for preparing chemically treated pulp fiber. A fiber slurry is created comprising process water and pulp fibers. The fiber slurry is transported to a web-forming apparatus of a pulp sheet machine thereby forming a wet fibrous web. The wet fibrous web is dried to a predetermined consistency thereby forming a dried fibrous web. The dried fibrous web is treated with a water insoluble chemical additive thereby forming a chemically treated dried fibrous web containing chemically treated pulp fibers. The chemically treated pulp fibers have an improved level of chemical retention of the water insoluble chemical additive and retain from between about 25 to about 100 percent of the applied amount of the water insoluble chemical additive when the chemically treated pulp fibers are redispersed in water.

A tissue product containing a cellulosic fibrous material and less than about 10 wt. % of a superabsorbent material (e.g., fibers, particles, etc.) is provided. In some instances, the superabsorbent material can absorb between about 100 to about 350 grams of an aqueous solution per gram of superabsorbent material. In some embodiments, the superabsorbent material can be applied at the stock-preparation stage of a papermaking process, and can be provided in a dry or preswollen state.

Tissue products having increased absorbency

A process and product of making a tissue product is provided. For example, the method can comprise (a) providing a first papermaking furnish containing refined softwood fibers; (b) providing a second papermaking furnish containing hardwood fibers; (c) incorporating the first and second papermaking furnishes into a tissue web such that the tissue web has a hardwood layer and a softwood layer; (d) contacting the tissue web with a drying surface so that the hardwood layer is disposed adjacent thereto; and (e) removing the tissue web from the drying surface with a creping blade at a creping pocket angle of less than about 82 degrees.

Method and system for manufacturing tissue products, and products produced thereby

A method for forming a tissue product that is soft and produces relatively low levels of slough is provided. The method includes providing a liquid furnish of cellulosic fibers and forming a multi-layered wet web therefrom. The web is dried (e.g., through-dried) to a solids consistency of 90% or greater. A latex having a glass transition temperature less than about 30&#xb0; C. is applied to the dried web (e.g., foamed, printed, sprayed, etc.) such that the latex comprises less than about 3% by weight of the dry weight of the web. The latex remains substantially uncured after being applied to the dried web.

Tissue products having reduced slough

A tissue product containing a multi-layered paper web that has at least one outer layer formed from a blend of pulp fibers and synthetic fibers is provided. A polymer latex is also applied to the outer layer of the tissue product. It is believed that the polymer latex and synthetic fibers can fuse together to have a synergistic effect on the strength of the tissue product. In addition, the resulting tissue product can be soft and produce low levels of lint and slough.
