A method of driving a display device operably switchable between a two-dimensional (2D) display mode and a three-dimensional (3D) display mode. The display device has four electrodes alternatively arranged between first and second substrates. The method includes applying a first voltage to the first electrodes of the first electrode structures and the second electrode structures, a second voltage to the second electrodes of the first electrode structures and the second electrode structures, a third voltage to the third electrodes of the first electrode structures and the second electrode structure; and a fourth voltage to fourth electrodes of the first electrode structures and the second electrode structure, respectively.

Method of driving a display device operably switchable between 2D and 3D display modes

A Fresnel liquid crystal lens and a 2D/3D switchable display panel are provided. The Fresnel liquid crystal lens includes a plurality of liquid crystal lens units. Each liquid crystal lens unit includes a first main electrode and two first sub electrodes disposed on a first substrate, a second main electrode and two second sub electrodes disposed on a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first and second substrates. The first sub electrodes are disposed on two opposite sides of the first main electrode, and a first gap is formed between the first main electrode and the first sub electrode. The second sub electrodes are disposed on two opposite sides of the second main electrode, and a second gap is formed between the second main electrode and the second sub electrode. In a vertical projection direction, the first main electrode overlaps the second main electrode, the first sub electrodes overlap the second sub electrodes, and the first main electrode partially overlaps the second sub electrodes.

Fresnel liquid crystal lens and 2D/3D switchable display panel

A liquid crystal (LC) lens includes first and second substrates, an LC layer disposed therebetween, and a plurality of first and second electrode structures. Each electrode structure has a plurality of first, second, third and fourth electrodes spaced-apart and alternately arranged along a first direction, where the first and second electrodes are disposed between the first substrate and the LC layer, while the third and fourth electrodes are disposed between the second substrate and the LC layer. In each first electrode structure, each of the first and second electrodes and a corresponding one of the third and fourth electrodes are aligned at a left tilted angle, while in each second electrode structure, each of the first and second electrodes and a corresponding one of the third and fourth electrodes are aligned at a right tilted angle. The first and second electrode structures are alternately arranged along a second direction.

3D liquid crystal display comprising four electrodes alternately arrange between a first and second substrate

A liquid crystal lens includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a plurality of first main electrodes, and a plurality of second main electrodes. The second substrate is disposed opposite to the first substrate. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first main electrodes are disposed on a surface of the first substrate adjacent to the liquid crystal layer. Any two adjacent first main electrodes define a first gap therebetween. The second main electrodes are disposed on a surface of the second substrate adjacent to the liquid crystal layer. Any two adjacent second main electrodes define a second gap therebetween. A vertical projection of each first main electrode on the surface of the second substrate overlaps at least two adjacent second main electrodes to form overlapping portions of the at least two second main electrodes, respectively.

Liquid crystal lens and stereo display using the same

An electrically-driven liquid crystal lens panel includes a pair of substrates, a liquid crystal layer, alignment layers, and electrode layers. The electrode layer is disposed between the alignment layer and the substrate, has effective and non-effective regions, and includes electrodes. Each electrode has main and extending portions and a turning point, wherein the turning points are disposed at sites at which the main portions and the extending portions connect, the main portions extends along a first extending direction, and each extending portion extends along a second extending direction different from the first extending direction. The second extending direction is substantially parallel to an alignment direction of the alignment layer. A connecting line formed by connecting the turning points is a boundary between the effective region and the non-effective region, wherein the main portions are disposed in the effective region, and the extending portions are disposed in the non-effective region.

Electrically-driven liquid crystal lens panel and stereoscopic display panel

A liquid crystal lens including a first substrate, a first electrode layer, a liquid crystal layer and a second electrode layer is provided. The second electrode layer includes a plurality of first electrode patterns and a plurality of second electrode patterns. The second electrode patterns are opposite to the first electrode patterns, respectively, and the second electrode patterns and the first electrode patterns are alternately arranged. A square measure of first or second electrode patterns decreases from an edge of the liquid crystal lens to a center of the liquid crystal lens, so that a resistance of the first or second electrode patterns increases from the edge to the center of the liquid crystal lens.

Liquid crystal lens

A display system for generating three-dimensional images includes a liquid crystal panel, a driving voltage generation circuit, and a liquid crystal lens. The liquid crystal panel is used for receiving a three-dimensional image signal. The driving voltage generation circuit is used for generating a set of square-wave voltages and a direct current voltage alternately according to the three-dimensional image signal. The liquid crystal lens is used for adjusting refraction angles of a plurality of liquid crystals of the liquid crystal lens to output a three-dimensional image according to the set of square-wave voltages and the direct current voltage.

Display system for generating three-dimensional images and method thereof

The present invention discloses a display apparatus with display switching modes, the display apparatus includes a display device; an image mode switch device formed corresponding to the display device, wherein the image mode switch device includes: a liquid crystal layer; a first electrode set on a side of the liquid crystal layer; a second electrode set between the first electrode and the liquid crystal layer; a third electrode set on another side of the liquid crystal layer; and a voltage providing device electrically coupled to the image mode switch device to supply different voltage to the first electrode, the second electrode and the third electrode for switching displaying mode; the display apparatus may display the 2D, 3D and IP stereo image by using the electrodes with different pattern and voltage on the first electrode, the second electrode and the third electrode.
