In some embodiments, a computer-implemented method includes obtaining a without-eyeglasses face scan of a subject, the without-eyeglasses face scan being a three-dimensional (3D) model of a face of the subject without eyeglasses; obtaining a with-eyeglasses face scan of the subject, the with-eyeglasses face scan being a 3D model of the subject with eyeglasses; and using the without-eyeglasses face scan and the with-eyeglasses face scan to place a 3D eyeglasses model on a face model of the subject. In some embodiments of the computer-implemented method, the 3D eyeglasses model is placed on the face model of the subject using frame placement information generated using the without-eyeglasses face scan and the with-eyeglasses face scan.

In some embodiments, a computer-implemented method includes capturing an image for each flash unit of an electronic device, each image being illuminated during the capturing of the image; obtaining a normalized image from one or more of the illuminated images; and using an illumination-based optimization framework to generate an enhanced three-dimensional (3D) depth image, the illumination-based optimization framework being based on the illuminated image. The invention aligns a digital face model from a 3D face scanner with a 3D jaw scan from an intraoral scan produced by an intraoral scanner without using external markers. The alignment proceeds in two steps. In the first step, the teeth part of a subject whose teeth are clenched, referred to as a clenched-teeth face scan, is aligned with an intraoral jaw scan to obtain a first transformation matrix. In the second step, a face model of a subject with a normal facial expression is aligned with the clenched-teeth face model of the same subject to obtain a second transformation matrix. A graphical user interface is provided that enables a user to manually align the 3D jaw scan with a 2D image of the subject's teeth to determine the first transformation.

Automatic marker-less alignment of digital 3D face and jaw models

The invention aligns a digital face model from a 3D face scanner with a 3D teeth model from an intraoral scan produced by an intraoral scanner without using external markers. Systems and methods are provided for to estimate the pose of a human subject's head from a sequence of images received from a single depth camera by processing the images to generate a continuous estimate of the head pose in a 3-dimensional (3D) space, and to generate a 3D head model for display and further use. The subject is provided instructions to rotate their head in a first direction until a threshold angle of rotation is reached and then are provided instructions to rotate their head in a second direction. The depth camera provides a sequence of captured images which are processed to extract head meshes. After capture is complete the head meshes are merged to generate a 3D model of the subject's head.

Robust head pose estimation with a depth camera

Systems and methods are provided for estimating head pose data from a sequence of depth images of a human subject, and processing the data to generate a continuous estimate of the head pose in a 3-dimensional (3D) space, and to generate a 3D head model for display and further use. An apparatus and method for creating an animation. A sequence of video images is inspected to identify a first transformation of a scene depicted in the sequence of video images. A first image and a second image are obtained from the sequence of video images, the first image representing the scene before the first transformation and the second image representing the scene after the first transformation. Information is generated that indicates the first transformation and that can be used to interpolate between the first image and the second image to produce a video effect that approximates display of the sequence of video images.
