Carbon dioxide and ash are two major waste by-products from coal fire production. Presented herein is are methods, material, and devices for storing carbon using high ash-content building material. The idea is to generate materials with commercial values to offset the cost for carbon capture. Ash with alkali activator (geopolymer) concrete has been studied extensively for its superior performance (higher strength) than ordinary Portland cement (OPC) concrete. However, most geopolymer concrete needs energy input in the forms of pressure and heat, which in turn are usually based on electricity produced through power plants.

Embodiments of the present application are directed to an automation process method to generate a set of wetland predictive variables using Light Detection and Ranging ('LiDAR') data within a geographic information system ('GIS') software platform, according to some embodiments, and to model and predict wetland in ArcGIS platform using the generated variable set. The automatic process also can run analysis on and display of the predicted wetland. The process is built by developing modules and connection in GIS. The above mentioned processes are automatically run and may just be run by one-button press, or on click, or separate buttons press, or separate clicks.

Wetland modeling and prediction

In one aspect, methods of storing one or more combustion waste products are described herein. Combustion waste products stored by a method described herein can include solid combustion waste products such as coal ash and/or gaseous combustion products such as carbon dioxide. In some embodiments, a method of storing carbon dioxide comprises providing a carbon dioxide storage medium comprising porous concrete having a macroporous and microporous pore structure and flowing carbon dioxide captured from a combustion flue gas source into the pore structure of the porous concrete.

Systems and methods of storing combustion waste products

Spatially Integrated Small-Format Aerial Photography (SFAP) is one aspect of the present invention. It is a low-cost solution for bridge surface imaging and is proposed as a remote bridge inspection technique to supplement current bridge visual inspection. Providing top-down views, the airplanes flying at about 1000 feet can allow visualization of sub-inch (large) cracks and joint openings on bridge decks or highway pavements. On board Global Positioning System (GPS) is used to help geo-reference images collected and facilitate damage detection. Image analysis is performed to identify structural defects such as cracking. A deck condition rating technique based on large crack detection is used to quantify the condition of the existing bridge decks.
