The invention provides a deflectable catheter capable of forming many variable radius spiral forms from a single, flexible, distal end section. In one aspect, the catheter employs a variable radius control wire to extend or deform a pre-formed loop structure into a three dimensional spiral-like form or geometry. The ability of a single catheter to create a multitude of shapes and sizes allows users to access to a number of anatomical areas without changing the catheter during a procedure or treatment. In another aspect, the invention encompasses methods of producing deflectable variable radius catheters, where two or more regions of the catheter having common control wires are fused or formed onto one another.

The present invention discloses a medical injector and medicament loading system for use therewith. The medicament loading system includes cap for a medicament cartridge. The cap has a post for causing movement of the cartridge stopper toward the seal when the cap engages the medicament cartridge to thereby eliminate adhesion between the medicament chamber and the stopper. The medical injector according to the present invention includes the medicament loading system, i.e., a cartridge assembly, a needle free syringe assembly, and a power pack assembly.

Medical injector and medicament loading system for use therewith

A jet injector having cartridge and power pack assemblies is disclosed. In one embodiment, the cartridge assembly includes a tube containing the medicament with a plunger at one end and a stopper at the other end. The plunger is movable within the tube lumen to force the stopper against a needle, thereby creating a fluid pathway through the stopper. In another embodiment, only the plunger is movable within the tube lumen and the stopper, which can be integral to the rest of the cartridge assembly or a separate component, already has a pathway for ejection of the medicament. The present invention also relates to an energy mechanism for the power pack assembly that is a gas spring containing a charging material existing in liquid and gaseous phase equilibrium within the gas spring to maintain a substantially constant pressure prior to activation.

Single use disposable jet injector

The present invention discloses a medical injector and medicament loading system for use therewith. The medicament loading system includes cap for a medicament cartridge. The cap has a post for causing movement of the cartridge stopper toward the seal when the cap engages the medicament cartridge to thereby eliminate adhesion between the medicament chamber and the stopper. The medical injector according to the present invention includes the medicament loading system, i.e. a cartridge assembly, a needle free syringe assembly, and a power pack assembly.

A loading mechanism for a medical injector assembly is disclosed. The loading mechanism according to the present invention includes a dosing sleeve slidingly joining first and second injector housing portions and having tabs at a first end and fixed to one of the first or second housing portions at a second end; and a sleeve retainer fixed to the other of the first or second housing portions and engageable with the tabs of the dosing sleeve at an engagement point to prevent movement of the dosing sleeve once an injector plunger is at a rear portion of an injector fluid chamber, wherein movement of the first housing portion away from the second housing portion moves the plunger in a second direction to load fluid into the fluid chamber and movement of the first housing portion toward the second housing portion moves the plunger in a first direction to remove the fluid from the fluid chamber. The disclosed loading mechanism facilitates filling the assembly with medicament and priming the assembly for use.

Loading mechanism for medical injector assembly

The present invention is directed toward a locking mechanism for aiding in the prevention of accidental or unintentional disengagement of the nozzle assembly from a needleless injection device. In one embodiment of the locking mechanism, a stud positioned on the nozzle assembly engages a recess in the injector to help to deter the nozzle assembly from rotating during firing of the injector. In another embodiment of the locking mechanism, a nib on the nozzle assembly engages a recess in the injector to deter the nozzle assembly from rotating during firing of the injector. A retaining element may be utilized within the injector to provide the recesses for engagement with the locking mechanisms.

Locking mechanism for nozzle assembly

An injector nozzle which has a body defining a chamber. A portion of the body has an orifice which communicates with the chamber for allowing fluid to enter into or exit from the chamber. The nozzle body includes at least one depression which is configured and dimensioned to cooperatively engage a tab member of an associated component for coupling thereto. The depression is also configured and dimensioned to positively lock the body to the associated component. The body portion which contains the depression is spaced proximally from the orifice. Also, an adapter for coupling the nozzle to a fluid container. The adapter includes a tubular member having first and second ends and a wall therebetween. The wall includes a passageway therethrough with the first end being dimensioned and configured to cooperatively engage the nozzle. The orifice of the nozzle generally aligns with the wall passageway for fluid communication therebetween. The second end of the adapter is configured and dimensioned to cooperatively engage a fluid container. These devices can be used in combination to provide a system for filling an injector with medicament.
