A distribution and signaling unit comprises an enclosure having walls forming an interior and an exterior receives a trunk cable entering an interior portion of the enclosure. Hybrid adaptors are arranged in an array in the interior and extend through one or more of the walls of the enclosure. A plurality of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) are mounted in the enclosure. A plurality of over voltage protection (OVP) modules are each mounted adjacent to the hybrid adaptors. A PCBA module is in the enclosure and transmits alarm signals or transmit voltage values measured from the power cables to a remote location.

Distribution and signaling unit with over voltage protection for fiber optic and power cables

A power boost retrofit system for a power communications system having an existing base overvoltage protection unit, where one end of DC power cables is connected to remote radio heads (RRHs). The power conversion retrofit system includes one or more pluggable DC voltage conversion (DCVC) modules containing DC-DC converters are inserted into respective slots in a front of an enclosure of the base overvoltage protection unit. A connectivity and control (CC) module is inserted into a rear of the enclosure to mate with the DCVC modules and to connect with an opposite end of DC power cables.

Power conversion retrofit system for wireless communication systems

A remote suppression unit retains a first set of surge suppression modules. A base suppression unit retains a second set of surge suppression modules. An over voltage protection (OVP) board in the remote suppression unit includes power strips that couple the first set of surge suppression modules to remote ends of DC power cables. A configurable terminal assembly in the base suppression unit couples the second set of suppression modules to local ends of the DC power cables. The surge suppression modules in combination with the OVP board and terminal assembly provide more suppression protection in both the remote and base suppression units. A remote voltage monitor circuit in the remote suppression unit measures voltages on remote ends of the DC power cables and transmits the voltages and alarm status to a monitor circuit in the base suppression unit.

Integrated overvoltage protection and monitoring system

A power transmission system includes a voltage measurement device located on a tower or rooftop for measuring a voltage (V) at a top end of a DC cable connected to a remote radio head (RRH). A voltage control system receives an input voltage (V) from a DC power supply and generates an output voltage (V) at a base end of the DC cable. The voltage control system calculates a voltage drop on the DC cable based on the Vmeasurement and then adds different voltage steps to Vso Vcompensates for the voltage drop. Calculating the voltage drop allows the PTS to more efficiently supply power to RRHs without having to increase the size of DC power cables.

Power transmission system for wireless communication systems

A suppression system provides more effective protection for communication stations with distributed radio and power systems. The suppression system provides surge protection both locally close to the radio station building where the power plant and telecommunication equipment are located and remotely next to the radios and antennas located outside of the building on the communication tower. Local and remote suppression units may include monitor circuitry that monitor remote and local DC voltage levels and alarm conditions. The alarm conditions may include over-voltage protection failures, intrusions, and/or water infiltration. Displays on both the local and remote suppression units identify the voltage levels and alarm conditions.
