Provided are systems and methods for providing enhanced motion detection. One system providing enhanced motion detection includes a smart display, an interface subsystem including a human interface device (HID), and a console having a processor configured to form communication links with the smart display and the interface subsystem and to provide motion detection feedback, using the smart display, to a user of the HID, where the HID is configured to sense motion of the HID and utilize a predictive model to characterize the motion of the HID. One interface subsystem includes a camera to sense motion of a user of the HID. One processor is configured to negotiate a reduced response latency with the smart display.

Systems and methods for providing enhanced motion detection

A television on a chip (TVOC) system that provides a cost effective approach for providing television functionality on a single integrated circuit chip is disclosed. A TVOC includes the functionality necessary to receive and display television signals in a variety of input and output formats. A TVOC can be used in set-top boxes for cable and satellite television, or directly within a television. All functionality provided can be provided on a single integrated circuit. TVOC includes a data transport module, an IF demodulator, a digital audio engine, an analog audio engine, a digital video engine, and an analog video engine. The TVOC also includes three sets of interfaces including output interfaces, control interfaces and ancillary interfaces. Further features and embodiments provide enhanced functionality and increased efficiencies.

Television functionality on a chip

A system and method for improving decisions for 2D combing of a video. A 2D-comb is applied to a baseband video signal, thus producing a chroma component of the signal, and an associated combing error. A narrowband filter is applied to the chroma component to produce a filtered chroma component. The chroma component and the filtered chroma component are blended in proportions based on the amount of combing error to produce a new chroma component. A larger combing error induces selection or blending a larger portion of the filtered chroma component, which as a result of narrowband filtering contains less cross-chroma error. Subtracting the new chroma component from the baseband video signal produces a new luma component. The chroma component can also be filtered using a wider band filter to produce a non-complementary chroma component to be subtracted from the baseband video signal to produce the new luma component.

Method and system for improving video combing decisions

Separation of luma and chroma in a video. In an embodiment, values on a current line of the sampled video signal, at &#xbc;-period intervals, are compared with values on a previous line of the sampled video signal, at &#xbc;-period intervals. Values on the current line of the sampled video signal are compared to values on a subsequent line of the sampled video signal. This gives information about the vertical frequency content. Values on the current line are compared with values having the same chroma phase on the same line to provide information about horizontal frequency content. The data of vertical and horizontal frequency logic are used by the decision logic to determine the appropriateness of combing based on these comparisons. If combing is not appropriate, the signal is bandpass filtered instead of combed. The low-pass and combing filters are applied to the original signal, not an interpolated or resampled signal.

2-D combing in a video decoder

Methods and systems for 2D comb filtering of a PAL video signal are provided. The method may comprise generating a plurality of interpolated pixels for corresponding video samples in non-adjacent pixel lines for a video frame. At least one direction of least bandwidth may be determined among the video samples and the interpolated pixels. The method may blend combing in the determined direction of least bandwidth. A plurality of interpolated pixels for corresponding video samples may be generated in a first pixel line of the video frame. The plurality of interpolated pixels in the first pixel line may be shifted, so that each of the plurality of interpolated pixels in the first pixel line is one quarter cycle phase-shifted from a corresponding adjacent pixel in the first pixel line.

Method and system for 2D comb filtering of a PAL video signal

Methods and systems for 3D bidirectional comb filtering of a video signal are provided. Aspects of the method may include generating a plurality of interpolated pixels for a current line, a next line and a previous line in a current frame. A plurality of interpolated pixels may be generated in a previous frame, which corresponds to the interpolated pixels in the current frame. A plurality of interpolated pixels may be generated in a next frame, which corresponds to the interpolated pixels in the current frame. At least one direction of least bandwidth may be determined among at least a portion of all the generated interpolated pixels and true pixels in the current frame. Combing may be blended according to the determined at least one direction of least bandwidth.

Method and system for 3D bidirectional comb filtering

Methods and systems for 3D comb filtering of a video signal are provided. Aspects of the method may include generating a plurality of interpolated pixels for corresponding video samples for a first video frame, determining at least one direction of least bandwidth among the video samples and the interpolated pixels, and blending combing according to the determined direction of least bandwidth. A plurality of interpolated pixels for corresponding video samples may be generated in a first pixel line of the first video frame. The plurality of interpolated pixels in the first pixel line may be generated, so that each of the plurality of interpolated pixels in the first pixel line is one quarter cycle phase-shifted from a corresponding adjacent pixel in the first pixel line.

Method and system for 3D comb filtering of a video signal

Methods and systems for correlation sharpening filtering of a composite video signal are provided. A correlation between a current pixel and at least one adjacent pixel may be determined. A plurality of chroma video signal components of a composite video signal may be blended based on the determined correlation. A luma video signal component may be determined based on the blended chroma video signal components. At least a portion of the plurality of chroma video signal components may be filtered, resulting in filtered chroma video signals. At least a portion of the plurality of chroma video signal components may be blended with the filtered chroma video signal based on the determined correlation. The blended at least a portion of the plurality of chroma video signal components may be removed from the composite video signal to obtain the luma video signal component.

Method and system for a correlation sharpening filter

Methods and systems for time constant for a 3D comb filter of a video signal are provided. Aspects of the method may include assigning a weight to a 3D comb mesh value. Combing may be blended according to the assigned weight of the 3D comb mesh value. The weighted 3D comb mesh value may be accumulated in order to generate accumulated mesh value. If the accumulated mesh value exceeds a saturation value, the accumulated mesh value may be reduced to the saturation value. If the 3D comb mesh value is smaller than a first threshold value, the accumulated mesh value may be reset to zero. A multiplier may be generated according to the accumulated mesh value. If the accumulated mesh value is between a second threshold value and a third threshold value, the multiplier may be blended.
