Methods and systems providing guidance for operation of a biopsy needle based on ultrasonic imaging. Ultrasonic waves are emitted and detected by a ultrasonic transducer to generate image data. A biopsy needle is identified within the generated image data, and the biopsy needle may be in a pre-fire configuration. Based on the identification of the biopsy needle, the methods and systems may determine a predicted location of the biopsy needle based at least in part on biopsy needle properties. The predicted location of the biopsy needle may be the predicated location of the biopsy needle in its post-fire configuration. At least one indicator may be displayed indicating the determined predicted location.

A specimen radiography system may include a controller and a cabinet. The cabinet may include an x-ray source, an x-ray detector, and a specimen drawer disposed between the x-ray source and the x-ray detector. The specimen drawer may be automatically positionable along a vertical axis between the x-ray source and the x-ray detector.

Systems and methods for locating abnormalities within a breast and generating mappings of structures, such as ducts, within the breast. First imaging data may be acquired for a breast from a first imaging modality and second imaging data for the breast from a second imaging modality. The first imaging data is co-registered with the second imaging data, such that the first imaging data and the second imaging data share a common coordinate space. Based on the second imaging data, a plurality of structures within the breast are mapped to generate a mapping of the plurality of structures. From at least one of the first imaging data or the second imaging data, the abnormality in the breast is located. The mapping of the plurality of structures and the located abnormality in the breast may be concurrently displayed. A statistical analysis of the mapping of the breast structures may also be performed.

Ultrasound image data is analyzed to identify the implanted marker. A distance to the marker or a lesion may be determined and displayed. The determined distance may be a distance between the ultrasound probe and the marker or lesion, a distance between the marker or lesion and an incision instrument, and/or a distance between the ultrasound probe and the incision instrument.

Methods and systems are disclosed for providing guidance for operation of a localization insertion device based on ultrasonic imaging. Ultrasonic waves are emitted and detected by an ultrasonic transducer to generate image data. An introducer for placing a localization wire is identified within the generated image data. Based on the identification of the introducer, the methods and systems may determine a predicted location based at least in part on introducer properties and localization wire properties. The predicted location of the ring of the localization wire may be the predicated location of the localization wire when positioned subcutaneously with the localization insertion device. At least one indicator may be displayed indicating the determined predicted ring location.

A compression paddle with a plurality of markers is advanced towards a patient's breast which has been positioned on a support platform for an imaging procedure. An initial position of the compression paddle is detected relative to the support platform when a portion of the breast is contacted. An initial marker is identified which is associated with a feature of the breast when the compression paddle is in the initial position. A compression target marker is based at least in part on the initial position and the initial marker.

A bracket body releasably secures a compression element to the compression arm of a breast imaging system. A pair of parallel lateral arms extends from a rigid frame which extends from the bracket. A span connects the ends of the lateral arms opposite the bracket and a flexible membrane extends from the span towards the bracket body.
