Systems and techniques for facilitating unified multichannel communication are provided. The described systems and techniques improve communication technology through an encompassing, channel-agnostic approach which unifies disparate communication modes into a singular coherent thread. A unified multichannel communication ('UMC') service of a UMC platform can initialize a UMC thread for a UMC session, where the UMC thread can be used to facilitate unified multichannel communication. The UMC session can involve multiple participants, including human users and software agents (e.g., conversational bots, virtual agents, digital assistants, and other dialog interfaces). The UMC platform can facilitate creating and interacting with a digital assistant providing unified multichannel communication.

Usage scenarios for unified multichannel communication platform

A method and system for determining a custom personal identification number (PIN) for a user based on an ordered series of events are disclosed, comprising generating the custom PIN for the user based on a set of stored events of the user, each event associated with a point in time and authenticating the user responsive to receiving information that matches the custom PIN. A chronological order of a selected subset of events can be determined. A chronological identifier can be assigned representative of a position of the respective event in the determined chronological order. The custom PIN can be determined as an arrangement of the chronological identifiers. The selected subset of events can be presented to the user in the arranged order. The user can be authenticated responsive to determining that a received indication of a chronological arrangement matches the determined PIN.

Event based authentication

Described herein is a system and method for using object references as a data type. In response to a request for an object reference for an object by a consuming application, the object reference is generated by a source application. The object reference comprises a data structure comprising an activation uniform resource identifier for activating the referenced object, information for visually representing the object reference, and, optionally, metadata that describes the referenced object. The generated object reference is provided to an operating system component by the source application which provides the object reference to a consuming application. The consuming application can display information regard the object reference in accordance with the information for visually representing the object reference included in the object reference. The user can request reactivation of the object referenced by the object reference.

System and method for using object references as a data type

Technology related to an activity feed service is disclosed. In one example of the disclosed technology, a method can include receiving updates to activity streams, where a respective activity stream indicates an engagement of a respective user with applications executing on a respective client device connected to a network. The different activity streams associated with a particular user can be merged to generate a merged activity stream associated with the particular user. The different received activity streams can correspond to different respective client devices. The merged activity stream associated with the particular user can be transmitted over the network.

Activity feed service

A computer-implemented system is provided that facilitates implementation of a voice over IP (VOIP) application. The system includes a host system and a user interface (UI) host process residing on the host system. The system also includes an agent host process residing on the host system which is being configured to process a VOIP call received by one or more VOIP applications executable on the host system. The agent host process running as a foreground or background process for the duration of the VOIP call to (i) communicate with a VOIP server associated with the VOIP application, (ii) capture content from at least one input device associated with the host system and (iii) render content on an output device associated with the host system when an instance of the UI host process operates in the foreground.
