A composite resonator, such as for use in a vehicle air intake system, includes a fiber reinforced contacting a semi-crystalline polymer substrate. The fiber reinforced composite includes a plurality of fibers in a polymer matrix. The composite resonator further includes a particle coating contacting the fiber reinforced composite. The particle coating includes a plurality of particles deposited onto the fiber reinforced composite. In a vehicle air intake system, the composite resonator is connected to the air intake pathway. The vehicle air intake system also includes a turbocharger compressor connected to the air intake pathway.

High temperature noise and vibration enabler for composite resonator

A bolt compression limiter includes a Belleville disc that applies a load to a flange of a bolt assembly and a component that applies a load to a limiter positioned within the flange, the limiter being shy of the top surface of the flange. The load applied to the flange is a first proportion and the load applied to the limiter is a second proportion of the total load applied when a bolt of the bolt assembly is tightened.

Bolt compression limiter

A vehicle charge air cooler of a vehicle engine air induction system. The vehicle engine air induction system could also be equipped with a turbocharger or a supercharger located upstream of the vehicle charge air cooler. The vehicle charge air cooler has an inlet housing. The inlet housing includes an inlet chamber and a resonator chamber. The inlet housing includes an inlet chamber and at least one resonator chamber. The inlet chamber is defined by an exterior wall of the inlet housing and at least one in interior wall disposed within the inlet housing. The resonator chamber includes an insulation material, an exterior wall region, and an interior wall wherein the insulation material is disposed between the interior and exterior walls. The interior wall defines at least one aperture and divides the resonator chamber from the inlet chamber. The insulating material is configured to attenuate sound waves.

Vehicle charge air cooler with an integrated resonator

A condensation dispersion device for a turbocharged vehicle engine includes a valve body, a movable valve, and a biasing means. The movable valve and biasing means are disposed within the valve body. The valve body defines a valve seat within the valve body, and includes an inlet and an outlet. The movable valve defines an engagement feature operatively configured to engage with the valve seat when the movable valve is in a first position. The biasing means is operatively configured to urge the movable valve to a second position when the pressure in the intake manifold is equal to or greater than atmospheric pressure.

Condensate dispersion assembly

A charge-air cooler includes a reticulated foam element configured to provide a plurality of nonlinear flow paths for a relatively high-temperature first fluid. The charge-air cooler also includes a cooling passage element disposed one of proximate to and in direct contact with the reticulated foam element and configured to accept a relatively low-temperature second fluid. The charge-air cooler additionally includes a header element having a first connection configured to accept inflow of the second fluid to the cooling passage element and a second connection configured to facilitate outflow of the second fluid from the cooling passage element. Furthermore, the charge-air cooler includes a casing configured to house the reticulated foam element, the cooling passage element, and the header element. An internal combustion engine employing such a charge-air cooler is also disclosed.

Charge-air cooler

A friction-weld interface device for improving a structural strength of an assembly includes a first component having a concave tapered surface. The friction-weld interface also includes a second component having a convex tapered surface that is complementary to and is configured to receive the concave tapered surface of the first component. The assembly is formed by friction welding the concave tapered surface to the convex tapered surface. The friction-weld interface device may be used to assemble an air-intake manifold for an internal combustion engine, wherein the air-intake manifold is at least partially joined by the process of friction welding.
