A printer device includes a housing () that defines an interior space. A platform () includes a first position extending along a plane within the interior space for receiving media to be printed with fluid. A mechanism () selectively applies a force to the platform () to move the platform () to a second position at an angle relative to the plane.

Pivotable ink cartridge platform for printer device

A check valve unit is provided for a high-speed phase change ink image producing machine between a reservoir for receiving and holding a volume of melted ink from a source and a receiving unit, which may be a printhead system. The check valve unit includes a plurality of ball elements trapped between upper and lower housings defining a like plurality of inlet and discharge passageways. The passageways are configured to optimize flow of melted ink through the unit during charging of the secondary reservoir. The check valve unit is scalable as to size and number of reservoirs for a particular application. The unit further incorporates features that simplify the manufacturing and assembly process while maintaining optimal performance.

In another embodiment, a device comprises a shaft having a spherical journal surface supported inside and rotatable against a cylindrical bearing surface. In another embodiment, a sheet media feed mechanism comprises: a chassis; a motor mounted to the chassis; a rotatable shaft operatively coupled to the motor; a roller affixed to the shaft; an idler disposed opposite the roller; the idler and the roller engagable with one another to form a nip therebetween; bearings mounted to the chassis and supporting the shaft, each bearing having a cylindrical inner bearing surface; and the shaft having a spherical journal surface inside and rotatable against each bearing surface.

Apparatus and method for adjusting and maintaining printhead-to-platen spacing in a printing device, wherein the printing device includes a printhead-carrying carriage and the carriage is pivotally mounted on and reciprocally shiftable along a guide shaft. An anti-rotation rail mounted on a hanger in the printer engages the carriage and determines its position relative to the printer's platen. A clamp structure is connected to the anti-rotation rail and extends through the hanger and is operable for clamping the anti-rotation rail to the hanger. An adjuster mechanism connected to the clamp structure is operable for selectively shifting the anti-rotation rail vertically upwardly or downwardly to position and maintain the carriage, and correspondingly, the printhead a preselected, nominal distance from the platen.
